Imaginary giants and shorter hair nowhere

I have green eyes in another life 
somewhere where I’m wiser 
and have shorter hair

I am rolling down a beanstalk 
followed by giants and june bugs
somewhere in another time 
somewhere 
where this poem might rhyme 
(all the way through)

I don’t have any shoes today 
I gave them all to my brother 
the one who  doesn’t exist anywhere 
except in my mind 
he’s a lonely guy, 
and he cries a lot

he sold my shoes to a hooker
and she wears them to church 
the one that I don’t go to
Because it doesn’t exist anywhere
 
I’d be late to church anyway 
if I went to church today 
because I am tired beyond reason 
and the church prays early 
and I have a bad habit of being late
especially to churches 

and also to funerals 
but that is a random side-thought 
and doesn’t really matter right now 
because no one died today 
(at least not here)

What *does* matter, though?
Romantic walks in the snow?
I hate the cold

No cold for me
I’ll be right here 
right here where all the grass is new
here in this real world today

and though I’ll dream of unreal things 
I’ll stay here in the springtime green
