I did thousands of painting in 40 years of work as an artist, so some subjects are in my memory almost like an automaticity. 
But it is the making of it that leads the hand, the brush and the brain. What I see tells me what to do. And this is also the motivation to do it: I paint to see what I have painted. Because I don't know it until I paint it.
