Join me early on the Beach!

I heard about this and went to see for myself!

Everyone that we talked to here in Struisbaai spoke about the magnificent sunrises that they get on the beach here. So early this morning I armed myself with my camera and trundled down to the beach. A sniping cold wind didn't deter me, as I had a scarf around my neck and my trusty old beanie on my head.

Finally, I had an African Fish Eagle waiting for the next post.

But the Fish Eagle will have to wait, as I have much to show you about this beautiful place. We were invited to visit some good friend that have now taken up residence here in Struisbaai and we returned home this afternoon.

I had not walked so much since my operation and now the legs still feel a bit shaky, but the beauty all round drew me like a magnet. On the way here the Canola fields on the farms are just starting to turn yellow and soon all of the valleys will feature a tapestry of colors.

Struisbaai is about a 2 and a half hours drive from our place and we were also invited to come and watch the whales when they arrive on their annual spawning run. Birds and wildlife are here in abundance and I have managed to snap a few lovely ones.

Thank you my friend.
I stopped the car to have a better look at this magical bird and discovered that the line of trees next to the road was hiding a river.
That's why he was sitting on a high pole.
When we got back here I phoned my friend in Struisbaai and he will now go and stake the bird out to see if he can get a shot of the Fish Eagle taking a fish out of the river.
