Catfish, AI and Therapeutics, what do they have to do with each other?
<p>Catfish is a hoax you can suffer online, but what happens when you look for a therapeutic and find that it's not even human?</p>
<h2>Catfish?</h2>
<p>The first I heard of the word "catfish" was for a television show that was dedicated to revealing identides of people who were in contact online, but had never met in person, more than once surprises occurred.</p>
<img src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-V0hUpuJ2740/WTG3OQqdXnI/AAAAAAAAEbY/D52LQGzcYuURNN8_IaDHbsFT011bgHnMACK4B/s990/catfish%2Bcuarta%2Btemporada%2Bcanal%2Bonce.jpg" alt=""/><br/><i> <em>Catfish: The TV Sho</em>w h<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catfish:_The_TV_Show">ttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catfish:_The_TV_Show</a> </i>
<p>I think part of the story was that one of the creators of the TV series was the victim of such a hoax and wanted to help other people find out who the "person" they were in touch with was.</p>
<h2>What does this have to do with the title of the post?</h2>
<p>It's just the beginning, let's clarify, this post was born from a response to @crypto<strong><a href="https://steemit.com/@crypto.piotr">.piotr in Ste</a></strong>emit, "Artifici<a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Artificial Intelligence and Human Possibilities (abre en una nueva pestaΓ±a)" href="https://steemit.com/steempress/@pedrobrito2004/artificialintelligenceandhumanpossibilities-kepvfuvhap#@pedrobrito2004/pxq4we" target="_blank">al Intelligence and Human Possibilities", it turne</a>d out that I extended so much that I thought I could take advantage of the ideas to create another article.</p>
<p>The center of the answer had to do with the problem that there are users posing as people of different genres or creating profiles with fake content and building a virtual identity to deceive us in some way.</p>
<img src="https://proxy.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.morganmedia.es%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2016%2F09%2Fimage1.jpeg&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1" alt=""/>
<p>I commented that in the case of computer programs there is even one more step when what is simulated is a human being. This takes deception to a new level, you might think it's something of science fiction or aI very current, but it's actually an old topic, in fact, the first conversation bot developed in the mid-1960s.</p>
<center><img src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4e/ELIZA_conversation.jpg/330px-ELIZA_conversation.jpg" alt=""/><br/><i>Source: <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELIZA">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELIZA</a> </i></center>

<p> MIT's Joseph Weizenbaum launched his ELIZA program as a parody of psychologists following the current created by Carl Rogers, who had developed a client-centered therapy, which he renamed "person-centered therapy."</p>
<h2>Why did Weizenbaum's Conversational Bot look like a teaper?</h2>
<p>The short answer is because it was programmed that way. One detail of this form of therapy is his approach to empathy, the use of the consultant's words to create questions, the request for clarification so that the person can explain himself without judging him, and the introduction of phrases that relax the rhythm of the conversation. All this, Weizenbaum introduced it to its new natural language processor, apparently just as a joke or a game to test the limits that could be had with such programs.</p>
<center><img src="https://proxy.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fc2.staticflickr.com%2F4%2F3044%2F2331085823_d6d4b97096.jpg&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1" alt=""/><br/><i> <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/pepihasenfuss/2331085823/">Joseph Weizenbaum at MIT</a> </i></center>

<p>The result surprised him and I even dared to think that he was afraid, the people who connected with ELIZA were other researchers (also his secretary), but they started treating the program as if he were really his therapist and told him all kinds of things. It was fortunate that the show could not "remember" the sessions. It is said that when Weizenbaum proposed to print all that to study it, they saw it as if it were violating the intimacy of the patient-therapist relationship ... But, it was absurd, because the empathy that ELIZA showed was programmed.</p>
<p>Years later, Weizenbaum became an AI critic, despite being one of the precursor to AI that we can find today in any virtual assistant, his stance became terribly ambiguous with regard to his own field of work.</p>
<h2>Are there other Infirmate TerapΓ©utas programs?</h2>
<p>Yes, there have been. In decades that are closer to us, there is a program I remember: Dr. Abuse, this natural language conversation process did the same as ELIZA, but with the peculiarity that he could "remember" between sessions and adjust his range of answers and questions according to the user, with whom personalization was already an advantage and developed an even greater empathy on the part of the human who consulted him.</p>
<ul class="wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped"><li class="blocks-gallery-item"><img src="https://pedrobrito2004.000webhostapp.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/descarga.gif" alt="" data-id="74" data-link="https://pedrobrito2004.000webhostapp.com/?attachment_id=74" class="wp-image-74"/></li><li class="blocks-gallery-item"><img src="https://pedrobrito2004.000webhostapp.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/descarga.png" alt="" data-id="75" data-link="https://pedrobrito2004.000webhostapp.com/?attachment_id=75" class="wp-image-75"/></li></ul>
<h2>Can we go further?</h2>
<p>A colleague asked me about all this and suggested that if I would like to be part of a post-humanity, I jokingly told him that rather my choice would be a "post-carnal humanity", if we can transfer our consciousness and memories to another medium, whether organic or not , the idea would not seem so bad ... looked at me a little scared and I understood that he did not take it as a joke.</p>
<center><img src="https://proxy.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2F4.bp.blogspot.com%2F_Hi1_E_dvBBw%2FS5VvoiCS0hI%2FAAAAAAAACn4%2FJtxnSXUbwgE%2Fs400%2FBruce-cyborg.jpg&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1" alt=""/><br/><i>http://caribaniaplanetaria.blogspot.com/2010/03/hacia-un-arte-posthumano.html</i></center>

<p>The question would be whether what would exist in this case of "migration" would be a "Human Soul", but I am so materialistic in my positions that I asked him if we could not create "Artificial Souls" ... It didn't do much good for him to use a smile to make him understand that it was a joke, I think that deep down his religious principles did not allow him to take my words as an innocent comment.</p>

@pedrobrito2004,  Excellent article

I definitely believe that AI has a lot of information that can be managed in the future, I remember those programs, which you mentioned many years ago.

Now, just as Piotr in his publication made your answer a publication, I think your closure made me think about that question, how to transfer human consciousness to an AI.

Te deje una nota en tu billetera.

@forykw ·
There is a very simple hack for computers... or AI that humans understand and for them, it's still hard... which is...

# Giving up...
Usually codes are made to iterate around things... and they necessarily give up for "natural" causes (usually if they do, it's because they found you overtaking the rules of engagement, like being negative or verbally rude, etc).

So, in some simple techniques it's quite easy to test and FAIL AI algos... like, for example when you repeat the same answer several times over and over but using different words... or even repeating 100 times the same exact sentence (unless they block you for repetition reasons). The other simple one, is when generate a normal response, and then contradict your self, then repeat...

The most common problem with the above is emotions and disposition, which is already somehow trialed on AI, but way imperfect to match humans.

So when we give up due a "made up" reason, sometimes the AI can't understand why. If you do it several times and never change... they will randomly fail more often.

Thanks for the comment. Certainly, the actuality of AIs fall into notorious failures when facing things like that.

I have the idea that in the future, the introduction of neural networks of greater capacity and the use of memory meshes that mimic those possessed by mammals can help overcome this.

Maybe the future solution will take a different path than I imagine, but it will surely be something interesting.

Yes... but that proportions (right now) are still under HPC (High Performance Computing) arena, where you need a large amount of resources to really do "WOW" things.

I have some experience with Genetic Algos under neural networks... and yes I agree with some extent with you... but I think selective intelligence on neural networks (to be more specific) is where things will evolve. Big meshes... will always cost a lot to process... unless they decide a way to monetize this very well on things like EOS... which was what I though things would go naively when I saw C++ as programming language for contracts as a possibility.

The blockchain world still has to meet large scale concentrated resources (which is not yet a desirable exploratory area), like MPI (message passing interface) language/libs... but I am certain that in some cases this will empower companies a LOT! Depends on the applications... but specially if we combine neural networks or AI in general with Blockchain... damn... it's going to get crazy on my side... and maybe then, my employer will hide me in a cave... LOL =) when they know what I know about blockchain...

Wooo really is something that would scare many and I don't blame your colleague for the reaction, I think that something like that is impossible to create, the human soul is the center of the emotions of man and I don't think that an artificial creation of the man gets to replicate what what we feel. (correct me).

At the moment I believe that such creation is impossible. It is something of science fiction, but at the time it was also airplanes, submarines and cell phones, so if the idea exists I do not dare to ensure that it does not become a reality at some future time.
