I think it's still in bear mode, that spike in volume should not hold, unless it was based on some odd metric. Or partnership. It looks like somebody picked up a ton of it. But i am just guessing, however it is nice to see it not moving with the market, and that i think is a good sign.

It has just broken out of the 3 month bear-pattern. Volume has gone up 25x or something like that... Total trade volume in coinmarketcap is only up 25%... I think that now traders will have to look for a new pattern... but if you take into account SMT's I think we will have a positive new pattern...

I personally agree and i think the price will still go up.  The Steem coin power depends on steemit platform stuff going on, but this year is pretty bad for all cryptos and not even cryptos. Let's hope for the best!

Question is: how many of those are real and how many are spoof accounts, created through API calls ...
What really matters is the number of active users, the number of posts and comments, the Alexa ranking (latter seems to be slipping, not good)

For as long as the accounts will not be strongly linked to actual persons they won't mean much

Yeah thats true. Anyway people join and then post for afew weeks and then give up -is there stats on inactive accounts?

Yeah I think that a half of them are fake accounts, but 9000 accounts created yesterday and yesterday 46% Steem jump so i think that maybe this caused this big jump. But i believe that Steemit platform will be growing, because It is solving a lot of problems for content creators.

Steemit has a large community in South Korea and this is likely to increase even further with talks of the government creating their own cryptocurrency. Yes that takes away the idea of decentralisation but it shows popularity is increasing!
