Thanks to mobile phones, internet banking and a number of other innovations, it is today much easier to pay electronically. Very convenient of course, but not without dangers. We are even more dependent on banks and electronic systems, which is not without dangers in an age of cyber attacks and bank collapses.

Another objection to the abolition of cash is that privacy is not guaranteed anymore, because all transactions are recorded on computer systems. A third objection to a cashless society is that the central banks will enable us to charge negative interest rates. As a saver you're worse off than it is today. And what if your bank is about to collapse? There is no longer an option to withdraw your money from the bank if cash does not exist anymore. The only option left in that case is to buy something valuable like gold, silver or cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

[The Visual Capitalist](http://money.visualcapitalist.com/global-war-on-cash/) made a somewhat dramatic but informative infographic of the so-called 'War on Cash'. The infographic makes reference to several examples to show us the advantages and disadvantages of a world without cash. There is a global push by lawmakers to eliminate the use of physical cash around the world, but fortunately it still has a long way to go. Today, cash is still used for about 85% of all transactions worldwide.
