# <center>La Gracia de Dios </center>

> Jesús contó esta otra parábola para algunos que, seguros de sí mismos por considerarse justos, despreciaban a los demás: dos hombres fueron al templo a orar: el uno era fariseo, y el otro era uno de esos que cobran impuestos para Roma. El fariseo, de pie, oraba así: Oh Dios, te doy gracias porque no soy como los demás, que son ladrones, malvados y adúlteros, ni como ese cobrador de impuestos. Yo ayuno dos veces a la semana y te doy la décima parte de todo lo que gano. Pero el cobrador de impuestos se quedó a cierta distancia, y ni siquiera se atrevía a levantar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho y decía: ¡Oh Dios, ten compasión de mí, que soy pecador!. Les digo que este cobrador de impuestos regresó a su casa justo, pero el fariseo no. Porque el que a sí mismo se engrandece, será humillado; y el que se humilla, será engrandecido. Lucas 18 : 9-14

El Señor muestra que el orgullo y la confianza en sí mismo se oponen al espíritu de la Gracia, el gran tema de Sus Enseñanzas, y en esta parábola, vemos a dos hombres que de manera muy diferente oraban en el templo. El uno era fariseo, y el otro era publicano. 

El fariseo, jactándose de lo que él era y hacía, exaltado por su propia justicia se presentó en el templo de Dios, y en oración, delante de sí mismo y de los que le veían, daba gracias por no parecerse a los demás hombres, ni a ese publicano sincero. ¡Que tontería!, midiéndose por sí mismo se estimaba perfecto. A éstos Jesús les dijo: Vosotros sois los que os justificáis a vosotros mismos delante de los hombres; mas Dios conoce vuestros corazones; porque lo que ustedes tienen por sublime, delante de Dios es abominación. ¡Lástima!, porque hay quienes que con soberbia pretenden ocupar el lugar de Dios, el único Juez Justo y Verdadero, que pesa los corazones de todos.

El publicano, un sencillo recaudador de impuestos menospreciado, sin embargo sabía que Jehová es excelso, que atiende al humilde pero que al altivo mira de lejos, que se complace en los que le honran y en los que esperan en su misericordia; estando de pie a la distancia, orando con toda reverencia en la presencia de Dios sin ni siquiera alzar sus ojos hacia el cielo, le declaraba su condición y ante su gran necesidad esperaba que Dios le manifestase su misericordia. 

¡Qué contraste entre estos dos hombres!. Vemos, como a Dios le complace justificar a todo aquel que es interiormente humilde de corazón, que al descubrir sus pecados los reconoce, arrepentido se los confiesa para que El le manifieste su amor y le libre de toda su amargura.

El Rey David tuvo esa revelación, al ser iluminado por el Espíritu Santo apreció la Gracia de su Dios y experimentó su gran misericordia, entendió que en sí mismo no tenía la capacidad para justificarse delante de Dios; entonces reconoció su falta y luego de ser perdonado revivió su corazón, se inclinó delante de Su Señor y con inefable gozo le alabó, diciéndole:

> Te alabo Señor, estoy maravillado, que precioso es lo que me has hecho, que formidables e imponentes son tus obras, estoy admirado. Te ruego, ¡abre mis labios! y publicará mi boca tu alabanza; Porque no quieres sacrificios que yo te daría; no quieres holocaustos. Ahora entiendo, que los sacrificios que Tú quieres son el espíritu quebrantado; sé que un corazón contrito y humillado no despreciarás tú, oh Dios. Salmo 51 : 15-17 Te amo. Sí, te amo. ¡ Te amo Señor!

El rey David sabía que bajo la Ley, la paga del pecado era la muerte, por tanto viviendo bajo la Ley debía morir por su transgresión. Pero cuando se le manifestó la Gracia de Dios y fue tan abundante para con él,  que al comprender que por la fe alcanzaría un verdadero perdón y que ni aún la muerte podía separarle de su Señor, rebozó de gozo, tanto se regocijó que solamente se derramaban de sus labios alabanzas tan profundas para engrandecer a Su Único y Justo Dios, agradecido le ensalzaba más y más, parecería que le faltaban palabras para expresarle su profundo y eterno amor, y llorando lleno del Espíritu Santo le dijo:

> Detrás y delante me rodeaste, y para bendecirme hasta mas no poder sobre mí pusiste la palma de tu mano. Tal conocimiento es demasiado maravilloso para mí; alto es, no lo puedo comprender. Salmo 139 : 5-6

# <center>The Grace of God</center>

> Jesus told this other parable for some who, sure of themselves to consider themselves righteous, despised others: two men went to the temple to pray: the one was a Pharisee, and the other was one of those who charge taxes for Rome. The Pharisee, standing, prayed like this: Oh God, I thank you because I am not like the others, who are thieves, evildoers and adulterers, nor like that tax collector. I fast twice a week and I give you one tenth of everything I earn. But the tax collector stayed at a distance, and did not even dare to raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his chest and said: Oh God, have compassion on me, I am a sinner !. I tell you that this tax collector returned home just, but the Pharisee does not. For he who magnifies himself will be humbled; and he who humbles himself will be exalted. Luke 18: 9-14

The Lord shows that pride and self-confidence are opposed to the spirit of Grace, the great theme of His Teachings, and in this parable, we see two men who very differently prayed in the temple. The one was a Pharisee, and the other was a publican.

The Pharisee, boasting of what he was and did, exalted by his own righteousness, presented himself in the temple of God, and in prayer, before himself and those who saw him, he gave thanks for not being like other men, nor to that sincere publican. What nonsense! Measuring himself was considered perfect. To these Jesus said: You are the ones who justify yourselves before men; but God knows your hearts; for what you hold to be sublime, before God is an abomination. Pity, because there are those who proudly try to take the place of God, the only Just and True Judge, who weighs the hearts of all.

The publican, a despised simple tax collector, nevertheless knew that Jehovah is exalted, that he attends to the humble but that he haughty looks afar off, that he delights in those who honor him and in those who hope in his mercy; standing in the distance, praying with all reverence in the presence of God without even raising his eyes to heaven, declared his condition and before his great need expected God to show his mercy.

What a contrast between these two men! We see, as God is pleased to justify everyone who is inwardly humble of heart, that upon discovering their sins he recognizes them, repented he confesses them so that He may manifest his love and free him from all his bitterness.

King David had that revelation, when he was enlightened by the Holy Spirit he appreciated the Grace of his God and experienced his great mercy, understood that in himself he did not have the capacity to justify himself before God; then he recognized his fault and after being forgiven he revived his heart, bowed before his Lord and with ineffable joy praised him, saying:

> I praise you Lord, I am amazed, how beautiful is what you have done to me, how awesome and imposing are your works, I am admired. I beg you, open my lips! And my mouth shall declare your praise; Because you do not want sacrifices that I would give you; you do not want holocausts. Now I understand, that the sacrifices that You want are the broken spirit; I know that a contrite and humiliated heart will not despise you, O God. Psalm 51: 15-17 I love you. Yes I love you. I love you Sr!

King David knew that under the Law, the wages of sin was death, therefore living under the Law he must die for his transgression. But when the Grace of God was manifested to him and he was so abundant with him, that upon realizing that by faith he would reach a true forgiveness and that not even death could separate him from his Lord, he overflowed with joy, so much he rejoiced that he only they spilled from his lips such profound praises to magnify His One and Just God, grateful he praised him more and more, it would seem that he lacked words to express his deep and eternal love, and crying full of the Holy Spirit he said:

> Behind and before you surrounded me, and to bless me until you could not over me you put the palm of your hand. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I can not understand it. Psalm 139: 5-6
