So today marks my first 6 months on Steemit to the day! What a fun adventure it has been!

<h1>I may have eluded to my steemit story in the past, but may as well tell it again here!</h1>

I came over after @goldenarms was talking about it on his silver stacking YouTube Channel, I had also seen @britcoin talking about it and hosting a giveaway so I figured I'd check it out. The first few days were confusing as heck, but I was able to make a few comments, then decided to make a couple posts. I quickly found the #steemsilvergold group and started posting a bit there, things were very slow, for a month I made a couple cents on each post. 

Then @sirknight was announcing the SteemLords event, his messages were cryptic and strange but I had nothing better to write about so I figured I'd join in. It turned out to be a lot of fun, writing those intertwining stories or our crazy adventures in middle steem. That's when I made my first real friends on Steemit, the crew from #TeamAustralia who seemed to understand what was actually going on took me under there wing, introduced me to discord and the minnowsupportproject and that's when things really started to change. I felt like I was really part of something, and real community, where everyone shared and looked out for each other and supported each other. Not to mention during this time I also seen my post payouts climb.  

For a long time, I spend more time chatting on discord and making friends that I did blogging. I just loved the community feel that they had there. Eventually my Canadian Stacking buddy started a #teamcanada community on discord and that become that funnest room to hang out and chat, although there were a few to many random cats. 
I also had the opportunity to join #thealliance which is another awesome community here on steemit of quality content creators.  

I wanted to bring some of this back to #steemsilvergold and help get that community a bit more organized, so I worked hand in hand with a few members there and started giving the tag a more community feel. We got our own discord channel, starting having all kinds of fun contests and giveaways and started our own community vote bot and curation account.

<h1> For me Steemit has really been all about community. </h1>

It's so different than any other online platform I've been on when there's so many trolls and negativity. It feels more like my time playing online games, when people are working together and cooperating and mostly getting along. Steemit has it's own communities for every interest or country, but it's also so open and fluid so everyone gets to interact with everyone else. 

When I first started I kinda felt there should be more division between tags and topics and things sorted better, but I'm come to appreciate that it's not about that. It's about people and connecting with each other regardless of interests and topics. This means I've had amazing opportunities to learn about things that interest me, like homesteading, gardening and sustainable living. I've also without at first realizing it gained a knowledge and understanding of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies to the extent that I feel comfortable investing a bit of money in it. It could have promising long term positive financial implications, but for me that's a bonus. 

<h1> I'm still here for the community</h1> 
I know steem has skyrocketed in value and there's the possibility that we could get rich and drive Lambo's like @goldenarms says and that's a great bonus, but I'm still just having fun with my new friends. I still usually steem with discord on at my side and look for my friends hanging out to chat with. I've been listening to MSP-Waves radio recently and getting more interested in the future of the platform and trying to do my part. I've been more active in trying to help out new users around the platform.

<h1> I'll take this chance to celebrate a few milestones</h1>
Like I said in the title it's been 6 months on steemit as of today! My rep is 63.4, and I have 998 followers. I've kept most of my steem reinvested on the platform and siting just over 3 500SP. I have just over 2 700SP delegated out to support other community initiatives, and my goal is to always try to keep around 50% of my SP delegated to community support projects.

<h3> Oh wait I just hit 1000 Followers, while I was typing this, now that's pretty cool! Time to celebrate!</h3>
