Hey Steemians!  I'm here today with a couple of addresses for you if you'd like to write letters to a couple of folks in prison.  I'm sure you can imagine how bored, depressing, and lonely it is to be there, and how much it could help to have a bunch of letters to raise your spirits.  So I thought y'all might like to join me in writing!

The first address is for someone you might be familiar with: Cyntoia Brown.  If you don't know her story, when she was a teen/young girl, she was trafficked into sex slavery and sold to a man.  One day she fought back and killed him defending herself.  She was convicted of murder (!), and has been in jail for several years now.  Just recently, some judge ruled that she would not even be eligible for parole until she had served fiftysome years.  A bunch of us were calling the governor of her state to grant her clemency, and he did not.  Her treatment is a total injustice.  If you'd like to know more, a quick search should net you lots of results.

Anyway, I saw a post on FB listing her mailing address, so her supporters and well-wishers could at least write to her.  I sent her a card when I was writing Yule cards, and thought y'all might like to write to her, too.  That address is:

The second one is for a FB friend's husband.  As I understand it, he was involved in the Ferguson protests, and that's when he was arrested.  This year he was moved out of state from his family, and their visitation and even phone call rights were restricted.  They have children, and my friend and her kids haven't seen him in months: even if she had the means to travel that far, they aren't allowed, as I understand it.

He's an anarchist, vegan, and Pagan, so I know a lot of people here have one or more of those things in common with him, and might like to write! :)

I was going to share his book wish list, because books are great to keep someone sane and are very important to him, but the link doesn't seem to be working, so I messaged my friend and will update if that is working again.

Anyway, there are additional restrictions on the type of mail he is allowed to receive: it has to be a letter written on plain white or lined notebook paper; the envelopes have to be plain white or manila if sending something larger like a book; NO CARDS are allowed.  Insane, right?
