Tree Crop Circles Near Nichinan Japan - 50 Year Old Experiment

I recently found this intriguing image of crop circles near Nichinan, Japan.

In 1973 an area of land near Nichinan City was designated for “experimental forestry” by Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. The experiment was organized by planting trees in 10 degree radial increments forming 10 concentric circles of varying diameters.
