I've actually seen a bit about this on tv a couple of weeks ago. It showed how babies could not even see difference in skin color, but they could see the difference between cats and dogs. Very quickly though, they learn to see different races in humanity and they'll grow up only being able to easily tell apart people from their own race. Giving birth to the whole *All asians look alike* or *All black/white people look alike* thing. Eventually, we learn to really label people and put them in all sorts of boxes and learn things about them, which leads to prejudice.

Logically speaking, prejudice is a good thing, as it just means you're acting on past experience. For me, this word doesn't have a negative feel to it. I also feel the word racism is heavily over- and misused in modern day society. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but it's being used as an excuse so often aswell. And sometimes, what's labeled as racism, really is just acting on experience, or prejudice and completely called for (or even just automatically done, because it's how our brains are programmed).

That´s it: 'labeling' is due to education. And I totally agree with you on not criticizing that. Racism is a word which is often used too quickly nowadays, you are absolutely right.

Imagine the following: When it comes to busines, for instance, different cultures have different habits in closing deals. Then we shouldn´t be really prejudiced AGAINST the person in front of us, but act according to what we have LEARNED about their culture. If we didn´t have these experiences, we would be totally lost.

We develop certain *expectations* according to our experiences in relation with a certain group of people, and these expectations (positive or negative) can help us to perfeclty get in touch with them. Prejudice can help us to follow etiquette, to be well prepared and behave correctly. And this is far away from racism...

Thank you very much for your great comment (I am happy you got nicely paid for it by Dan :-)), I really appreciated getting a bit more into detail here. It´s a really interesting field and I think we should read more about it on steemit...
Have a nice Sunday!
