I try to take care of my Capresso CM300 10-cup Programmable Coffee Maker. After I finish off a pot of coffee, I rinse out the “10-cup Stainless Steel Thermal Carafe” and leave it to dry in the dish rack.
Yesterday I ran out of coffee beans, so this morning I made a pot of coffee using store-bought ground coffee. I filled the “see-through removable water tank” to what I thought was the right level and then carefully measured the amount of grounds for the number of cups I was making, hoping that I finally got the ratio right. (I’m still trying to figure out exactly the right amount of coffee grounds per cup.) I poured the grounds into a #4 filter in the coffee maker, pushed the button for brewing 3-5 cups, pressed the start button, complimented myself on the thoroughness of my research and preparations, and went on about my business of cleaning up the kitchen.
As I was washing some silverware and plates by hand and setting them to dry in the dish rack, I noticed the thermal carafe sitting upside down in the rack. And the question crossed my mind: So where’s the coffee going?
I turned around and saw a pool of hot coffee on the floor, with a steady stream of it flowing down from the counter and still more dripping down the front of the coffee maker from where the carafe was supposed to be, but wasn’t.
Actions that stupid deserve to be laughed at, and, indeed, I laughed heartily as I cleaned up the mess I’d made and managed to put the carafe back in place in time to capture a cup or more of hot coffee still dripping down from my Capresso CM300.
