<center>**THE SELF CONCEPT**</center>

_Life has given to men one obligation that he, (man) cannot neglect because when it is neglected it becomes a platform for regrets, worries and depression._

in Petroleum engineering  there’s what is referred to as ”WELL APPRAISAL” this simple means; know what a particular oil well contains and how long it can last; but the most important thing there is to know what amount of crude oil that the oil well contain.

With what life has presented so far through all the tactic of the devil man has come to a bridge of knowing who he or she is. Man has got to do what is also called” SELF APPRAISAL” knowing what resides in the inside of man or one self.  This brings us to one of the most positive and power antidote which is used for curing afflictions by the devil to the mortality of Christians (believers) according to Paul 1Cor 4:4. This antidote is called the self concept.

**THE SELF CONCEPT**

The word concept means an ideal (a creative idea) about something. In order words it is the way we think of ourselves and what idea we have about ourselves as Christians. 

There has always been something one can say about his or herself and it tends to be in two ways which are the negative and positive way. Seeing that the long way man has come both in existence and in knowledge (Knowing) man has never failed to say some things about himself,  man has some ideas in him that cannot be changed and these are; the concept of background, experiences, society, family and training. 

There are simply trophies that the devil has used in afflicting our mentality. He (the devil) has relegated us to the background, by such loopholes. But it will amaze you to know that what God thinks about you is not what you think about yourself. God wants you to see yourself as an entity and not a nonentity. 

_From biblical stories and other research, we have been able to see that what a man thinketh, that is what he becomes according to Proverbs 23:7 “As he thinketh in his heart so he is……”_

For proper understanding it is also a known truth that what you know about yourself has a good note to play in your life. But in this case it is not what you know about yourself but it is what God wants you to know about yourself.

In the scriptures people like Gideon, Moses and others did not do well until they knew and understood what God wants them to know about themselves.

Gideon said he was from the least tribe but God said to him, “You are a military man of valor!” Moses said “I am a stammerer” but God said “Through you Israel will be delivered.” Don’t see yourself as a failure. God said you are a success. Do not say I cannot do it because in Phil 4:13 Paul says,

 _“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”._

 Do not see yourself as the world sees themselves because when they say there is a casting down you will say there is a lifting up.

What God wants from you is that you will have a positive concept about yourself….
Dr. David yonggi Cho said he wrote off himself but when he found Christ, there was hope. He is the pastor of the biggest church in the world.

God has given you grace for the race. No matter what you face your faith and the grace we will race you.  
Just believe you can do it and you will do it. I know that God can do all things through you (Jer 32:27)

Do not let your family background trouble you. Just believe you have a backup (God) and your bad background  will back-off.

_Speak the positive things, think the positive things, do the positive things and you achieve the positive. Where you came from is not the matter. The matter is what you think about yourself. Think yourself great, think yourself rich, think yourself successful, think yourself as more than a conqueror. Your thinking will move you towards a part of positive action that brings positive results._ 

_Change yourself concept from negative to positive and your perspective in life will change._
