THE DOLL (a short fiction story)

When the sad news got to Mrs Elena, she broke down in tears. Her husband was speechless but it was clear to everyone that he was as sad as his wife and was just only trying to be a man by not shedding any tears.

The police did all they could but there was no trace of her, no trace of Elena's little angel. They've been searching for three days straight yet all they could make out was that she went into the woods from her way back from school and ever since little Charlotte had gone missing.

All they could find was her creepy little doll. She'd had it every since she was three. It was her favourite. Her parents never really understood why she loved that doll so much. They had tried taking the doll away from her and replacing it with better ones, all to no avail as little Charlotte will scream and cry anytime her parent tried disposing of it.

Now that creepy little doll was all they had of their daughter. It was the last thing that was with her that the cops could find. So Elena kept it with herself. It will make her feel closer to her daughter.

A week later, around 9pm in the evening something strange happened. Elena had left the doll on her bed to go take a shower when she heard Charlotte's voice.. ***"Mama"***

She turned back immediately with fright. Wondering where the voice came from. After looking around her room and couldn't find the source, she de, used it must have been her imaginations. So she turned her back and walked towards her bathroom ***"It's me mama"***

She heard the voice again and this time the doll which was on her bed suddenly fell to the floor looking straight at Elena.

***"Charlotte?"*** Elena asked, her voice trembling with fear.

***"Yes mama"***

The screamed that followed was a deafening one. Charlotte was the scary creepy doll.
