Dove ci lavora Kiara Akira, uno degli ultimi maestri rimasti ad usare la Tatara tradizionale.

Può restare sveglio per tre giorni e tre notti a osservare la fornace lavorare quei materiali fini alla realizzazione di una delle più taglienti spade

La sabbia ferrosa della zona è incredibilmente pura e contiene molto meno zolfo fosforo che rendono friabile ferro e acciaio. 
La magia avviene quando il carbone del carbonio si fonde con la sabbia ferrosa nel crogiolo di fuoco in fondo ad una fornace di ferro.

Kiara akira ci spiega come solo guardando riesce a riconoscere le caratteristiche.

A livello atomico viene trattenuta una piccola quantità di carbonio che aiuta la la spada ad essere flessibile 
Quindi si ricopre di acciaio puro, diventando così affilata.
La combinazione di acciaio ferro e carbone crea la katana
