The Wizards' team reported that Thomas had surgery to treat, lateral ligament rupture of the left thumb. Thomas was reportedly injured during his training, The operation was performed by Dr. Curtis. Injury recovery will take six to eight weeks. "It's unfortunate for him, but he expects to recover completely under the care of the team's medical staff. He will serve as a mentor for the young guards during rehabilitation and positively impact the team when the training camp begins." Thomas made his debut in the 2011-12 season NBA and was a veteran in 485 games. In the last two years, he has only appeared in 44 games due to injury. Last season, he played 12 games in Denver, with an average of 8.1 points and 1.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists. He was selected as an All-Star twice and was named All-NBA with an average of 28.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists at the Boston Celtics in 2016-17.
