<p>I live in the city of St. Petersburg, which has one of the most beautiful subway networks in the world. But, the beauty of the underground cities is not so easy to photograph, they are often poor-lighted and a tripod is not an acceptable option in the metro area.  Before the 90's, a person in the subway with a camera and the desire to take pics of its beauty, often was having issues... Such activity was forbidden and punished. Fortunately, those times are in the past! I used to not take pictures of the subway, because I did not have a good fast wide-angle lens. Now I have such a lens - I bought the 16-35mm 2 years ago - and now will gradually fill my archive with photos of the subway. More to go!

<p>Я живу в Санкт-Петербургe, построенный во времена СССР метрополитен - один из самых красивых в мире. Но красоту подземных городов не так легко сфотографировать, часто они плохо освещены, а штатив не является допустимой опцией на территории метро.  В 90-е годы и раньше человек в метро с фотокамерой и желанием фотографировать эту красоту, вообще становился проблемой... подобная активность была воспрещена и наказывалась. К счастью, эти времена в прошлом. Раньше я не фоткал в метро, потому что не имел светосильного ширика. Теперь он есть у меня - я приобрел эльку 16-35мм, и  начал постепенно наполнять свой архив фотками метро. Море ту гоу!

<p><b>'Chkalovskaya'</b> subway station was named after a famous aviator Valerii Chkalov.  He may be known to English-speaking readers as the crew commander of the plane that made the first nonstop flight over the North Pole from Moscow to America (Vancouver, Washington) in 1937. Less well known is the fact that Stalin intended to make him head of the Ministry of State Security (KGB). Thats why aircraft symbolics was used to decorate the station.

<p>Англоязычным читателям он может быть известен как командир экипажа самолёта, совершившего в 1937 году первый беспосадочный перелёт через Северный полюс из Москвы в Америку (Ванкувер, штат Вашингтон). The subway system / schema is not very complicated....  as for example in London. But ofc there are some strange crossings and intersections out there.

The **'Tekhnologicheskii Institut'** subway station is one of them. There are two different stations on different routes,  that are connected, and share the same name. Easy to be confused!

A city dweller chooses his reading at a pressa kiosk. The metro has a huge network of kiosks selling books, newspapers... and a lot of other stuff besides press. Believe me or not, two jobs ago I had the pleasure of working on the design and production of these kiosks! So I feel both nostalgia and a special personal attitude every time I pass by those kiosks. In case you're wondering, the design was applied to the tin glass by UV printing method, and you had to make some tricky multy-layered 'sandwiched'  layouts to print it correctly...</div>

<p>Житель города выбирает свежую прессу в киоске. Метро имеет огромную сеть киосков, торгующих прессой... и много чем еще, кроме прессы. Две работы тому назад, я кстати имел удовольствие работать над дизайном этих киосков и его воплощением! Поэтому испытываю и ностальгию, и особенные личные чувства / отношение всякий раз, проходя мимо. Если вам интересно - дизайн наносился на калёное стекло по методу УФ-печати,  и для печати приходилось фотошопить хитрые "слоёные" макеты...

<p>A young violinist on the streets of the city under the streets of the city - trying to monetize her musical skills. Maybe it would be better to invest money in crypto?! But where does a poor student may get money for that.... I gave her everything I had in my pocket - just 20 rubles.. and received a kind smile in return. And this picture, as a memento.

Лучше бы инвестировала деньги в крипту! если они конечно есть... но откуда у студента деньги?.. я отдал ей все что было на кармане - 20 рублей, получив в обмен добрую улыбку.
