Since its birth in 5th century BCE, democracy has evolved into many different forms of governments. The evolution is now poised for Democracy 3.0 — we call CROWDOCRACY.

While Abraham Lincoln wished democracy did not perish from the earth, around the same time Karl Marx wished its annihilation because:
> “The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them.”

Marx declared voting to be a largely meaningless endeavor in 19th century.

Twentieth-century saw Winston Churchill confessing, “No-one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise.”

Here’s what Winston Churchill said in 1947:
> “Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.” Most tend to agree with Churchill’s sentiment that nothing beats the wisdom of the crowd.

In 2007, EU polls found that around the world, regardless of country, continent, age, gender or religion, about 80 percent of respondents believed democracy was the best way to run a society.

# Human Frailties
Any sociopolitical democratic system that relies on human virtues whether mandated by religion, creed, ethics or any popular mandate is bound to get adulterated over time with human frailties. The belief that the entire humanity will always stay in compliance with religiosity or righteousness is too utopian to be universalized.

As much as, we the homo sapiens, chose to repudiate the fact,

***selfishness is inherent and altruism is acquired.***

If that wasn’t the case human race could not have survived the brunt of millions of years of evolutionary hazards. It’s our selfishness that made us the fittest to survive. If only Darwinists saw it as one of the key mechanisms of natural selection, we wouldn’t have difficulty understanding:

***Why human tendencies will always centralize power and abuse it?***
***Why system that can be gamed will always be gamed?***

No matter how robust the extrinsic influences to stay virtuous, the intrinsic human carnalities will always succumb to earthly temptations. Whether democracy, or any other system that’s legacy’s gift to us, heavily depends on trust. Enforcing that trust to perfection is the single most challenge that humanity has so far failed to conquer.

# Evolution Of Democracy 3.0
[Gideon Lichfield](https://qz.com/884971/democracy-3-0-a-science-fiction-story-about-what-comes-next-in-america/) science fiction story throws some light on the evolution of democracy. Ancient Greece pioneered democracy 1.0. It was a good system, but with limited access privileges.

Twentieth-century democracy was 2.0. A full-scale implementation, but too susceptible to human frailties. Not immune, by any means, from the risk of being gamed and abused by some ambitious citizens.

In 3.0, none are enslaved or excluded, none are bullied or coerced, and every single citizen participates. That’s what we call CROWDOCRACY

With the advent of the decentralized ledger technology (DLT), we know democracy can be further perfected by decentralizing its power. Decentralization is ***“the process of distributing or dispersing functions, powers, people or things away from a central location or authority.”***

Crowdocracy is supposed to do just that. Originally conceived in 2013–14 as network architecture for an ideal decentralized P2P credit system, crowdocracy, we believe is the technological answer to all types of governance in the real world.

The evolution of governance to democracy 3.0 is inevitable.
