***I photographed this yesterday and it brought back memories I want to share with you.***

Time to write about compassion, really it is strange this is the first time for me in Steemit writing on such a beautiful subject as compassion.  Yesterday I saw this sign in the photograph in the most unsuspecting place.  My husband took me along to buy some wood for one of his art projects.  

While waiting in his van I look over and see this and think way out here in the hills in central Nebraska is this beautiful wooden sign; maybe one day I will learn the story behind why someone carved it and share that with you my friends.

I like this definition of compassion:

Compassion comes in many forms and of course I live where people hunt animals such as deer.  When I hear someone has gone hunting I pray they come back unsuccessful.  It is not like they will go hungry we live close to the market.

One thing I think we can all do is having more compassion for ourselves.  It is especially true for the people we care about.  I see someone going through something such as a loss of a loved one and feel compassion for him or her naturally.  However I sometimes see someone that is just so hard on them, they take care of everyone else and put their selves last.  These are the ones that can use our love and compassion most.  I thought of the word love because love walks hand in hand with compassion.  How could you have one without the other?

I still remember a documentary I viewed years ago about Mother Teresa and how she was among other things in the documentary trying to rescue some handicap children in an orphanage.  She needed help getting them as they were in a war zone.
The government of where she was said unless the bombing stopped there would be no way she could go in and rescue these poor children.

I watched the film as she stopped and bowed her little head in prayer and you can probably guess what happened next.  Yes, the bombing stopped.  I saw as she lifted a crippled child up and hugged them.  

Can you believe I had a chance to meet Mother Teresa and turned it down?  How could I turn such a gift down?  Probably not enough compassion for myself, actually, just kidding I felt at the time why would I need to see her?  See what you think as I tell you what happened.

Around 1986 my husband and I traveled to India.  No tour group, backpacks and me thinking up an itinerary using what was referred to back then as the yellow bible, because the Lonely Planet Travel Guides were yellow.

Anyway back to the story, we arrived in Calcutta and some other time I will write about those travels.  Let’s fast forward to Mother Teresa.  I tell my husband hey we are in Calcutta let’s go to Mother Teresa’s ashram.  So off we go and don’t even remember how we knew where it is located.  Once we arrived there without notice to anyone I tell the sister greeting us at the door we are from America and would like to see Mother Teresa.  She returns and says Mother will see you now.  

Now I was no way prepared for that and thought why would I take her time?  Now I realize I could have just asked for a blessing.  I tell the sister we really did not need to see her and she complied by taking us up some stairs to pray with the Sisters.

That is how I remember the whole thing.  Anyway, speak of compassion Mother Teresa is the embodiment of it.  

Next time I will share with you how I almost met Gandhi; just kidding I am not that old.
