Indeed, put those thoughts back on the conveyor belt. 
I really do think thoughts in our head are from other people, some even other dimensions.

You're right about that - so many times I've falling in to a thought about something that definitely should not have taken over. It takes time, training and practice to get to a point where you can just not think about something but there are times when it can touch a nerve or affect something that is deep rooted. 

One book which I enjoyed reading twice in the last year is "You Are A Badass" by Jen Sincero. OK, a little bit cheesy in some places (for me anyway) but the gist of what she is saying is relevant and I keep saying I need to practice meditation, that's where the discipline needs to come in. Headspace is an app that I have and need to make more use of as the few times I have used it, I've felt a little clearer.

Anyway, thanks for the post :)

Someone once told me that sometimes it is not your thoughts 
That you picked it up from someone else because we are all connected 
So taking that break from the noise to identify the thoughts sounds like a plan

Good advice

Excellent advice!  Always a good reminder to guard not only our physical space but mental space, as well.

I actually like that, "Thoughts are like visitors be careful who you welcome into your home."  It is so very true.  There are times that I will be totally calm and happy, but then as the day moves on I become angry or negative.  That is when I realize I have been listening to the news or friends that are being negative.  It can really affect you.

Interesting thoughts and perspective. For me, as long as I recognize the voices for what/who they are, I'm okay. 

Now if I start hearing voices from OUTSIDE my head, I'll start to worry. 

Seriously, though, sometimes I have to let the voices in my head talk and have their say and then move on. Otherwise I tend to just bottle things up. I also have the unusual perspective of having lived with dissociative identity disorder, so the 'voices in my head' concept is quite a bit more literal for me, even now that I'm fairly certain my voices are on the level of 'normal'.

Well said, thoughts are like seeds; if you plant them and pay attention to them they will grow. So be careful which seeds you plant in your mind is what I tell myself and my kids.

Very interesting post. I find mindfulness and meditation to help a lot to give negative thoughts as little importance as possible it is still an every day exercise for me:)

I like the quote you ended with. That's a great way to look at things. It also implies a good way to get rid of unwanted thoughts. Just tell them, "Hey, thanks for stopping by, but it's time for you to go now." :-)

Howdy rebeccabe! Oh I so agree with you, especially that last sentence. I think we have to be so careful about what we see, listen to, watch and think about! That is wisdom right there. I hope people listen to you and take your sage advice!

I feel  like i have really too noise in my head, i want to shut up all the bad voices that tell me that i am not enough =(

I totally agree, it is very easy to dwell and worry over some thoughts - when in reality there is not need. It's not often easy to dismiss them - but if you can then you there is a good benefit.
