<td><li>This species occurs in most parts of the Palaearctic, ranging from North Africa and the Atlantic coast of Europe to as far east as the northwest of China.</li></td>
<td><li>Diese Art kommt in den meisten Teilen der  Paläarktis vor und reicht von Nordafrika und der Atlantik Küste Europas bis weit in den Osten, in den nordwestlichen Teil von China.</li></td>

<td><li>It reaches a body length of 9-12 mm and has a very characteristic red and black coloring and is thus a quite easy bug (Hemiptera) to identify. The pronotum shows a black rectangle with red borders, the small shield after the pronotum is black in color and the forewings show a big black spot in the middle and a small one at their beginning. Moreover the abdomen is also black in color with red edges.</li></td>
<td><li>Sie erreicht eine Körperlänge von 9-12 mm und hat eine sehr charakteristische rot und schwarz Färbung und ist deshalb eine ziemlich leicht identifizierbare Wanzen (Hemiptera) Art. Das Halsschild (Pronotum) zeigt ein schwarzes Rechteck mit roten Rändern, das kleine Schild nach dem Pronotum ist schwarz gefärbt und die Vorderflügel weißen einen großen schwarzen Fleck in der Mitte und einen kleinen am Anfang auf. Weiters ist auch das Abdomen schwarz gefärbt und hat einen roten Saum.</li></td>

<td><li><i>Pyrrhocoris apterus</i> sometimes move up on tree stems, but they are usually found on the ground, where they feed by sucking from different seeds (mainly from <i>Tilia</i> sp., <i>Hibiscus</i> sp. and <i>Malva</i> sp.), as well as dead insects. </li></td>
<td><li><i>Pyrrhocoris apterus</i> bewegen sich manchmal entlang von Baumstämmen, aber für gewöhnlich sind sie am Boden anzutreffen, wo sie sich saugend von verschiedenen Pflanzen Samen (vor allem von <i>Tilia</i> sp., <i>Hibiscus</i> sp. und <i>Malva</i> sp.) und toten Insekten, ernähren.</li></td>

<td><li>Pairing occurs from April to May, where one female mates with several males, with most of the copulations lasting for many hours or even days. The female lays between 50-100 eggs and as typical for hemimetabolous insects, the hatching nymphs (larvae) already look quite similar to the adults (imagines) and develop with 5 moltings to the adult form within a couple of weeks to months. The imagines then live from 2 months up to almost 2 years. </li></td>
<td><li>Die Paarung findet von April bis Mai statt, wo ein Weibchen sich mit mehreren Männchen paart, wobei die meisten Kopulationen mehrere Stunden bis sogar Tage dauern. Das Weibchen legt zwischen 50-100 Eier und wie es für ein hemimetaboles Insekt typisch ist, schauen die schlüpfenden Nymphen (Larven) schon den adulten (Imagines) Tieren sehr ähnlich und entwickeln sich mit 5 Häutungen über mehre Wochen bis Monate zu der adulten Form. Die Imagines können dann 2 Monate bis hin zu fast 2 Jahren leben.</li></td>

<td><li>After overwintering, this species can be found in huge aggregations (especially on warm and sunny days) of different development states from March onwards.</li></td>
<td><li>Nach dem überwintern kann diese Art in großen Aggregationen (vor allem an warmen und sonnigen Tagen), aus verschiedenen Entwicklungsstadien, von März an gefunden werden.</li></td>

<td><li>Other than commonly believed, is this species not a plant pest and in no way harmful to humans. However, due to its mass occurings they can sometimes annoy gardeners. </li></td>
<td><li>Anders als häufig geglaubt wird, ist diese Art kein Pflanzenschädling und in keinster Weiße gefährlich für den Menschen. Jedoch, kann sie aufgrund ihres Massenauftretens manchmal lästig für Gärtner sein.</li></td>
