Photographic Journeys: The Beauty of Autumn Decay

One of the things I really enjoy is to capture photos of everyday items we take for granted... and then present them in ways that make them *"memorable"* and more artful.

While walking around our neighborhood, I came across these long past husks left behind after some kind of flower; a variety of thistle, perhaps?

The seeds are partially gone; and they have an interesting appearance in the afternoon sun... especially against the "living" background of vegetation.

Here's a different one, not quite as dramatic:

Even though they are not colorful or *"alive,"* I found them to be visually quite appealing.

I had high hopes that they would also turn out to be quite dramatic in black and white... but they weren't what I had expected — at least not without overprocessing them.

The other shot looks just about *"OK"*, but no more... but it could be I am just overly critical:

Either way, I really enjoy experimenting with things like this; just to see what turns out. I like the idea of noting and celebrating the "ordinary," such as these dried seed pods.
