Heh, yesterday I realised mid-afternoon that I'd spent over half an hour watching video reviews of fishing kayaks on Youtube. I think my subconscious is trying to tell me something, like my stress level is approaching the breaking point, and the mind needs a break.

I remember when I was a boy, back in the 60's, spending summers with Mamaw and Papaw in Louisiana. Papaw and I would get up before dawn to go fishing on the bayou, and catch those big ol' MIssissippi river cats. I remember getting a palm full of spines the first time to went to pull one off the hook, and Papaw laughed and showed me the right way to do it, starting at the fish's head and smoothing the spines down flat as you grab it. But people had a different approach to teaching kids back then, far less protective. He let me hurt myself first, so I'd pay attention and **REMEMBER** the lesson, and *then* he showed me the right way.

I also remember Mamaw cooking up those catfish for supper the same night, battered and deep fried, and served with hushpuppies and fried okra. That was the best fish I've ever eaten in my life.
