Every martial has some unique moves, and you will also find that they focus on different things. If someone attacks you with a stick, you can defend and counter-attack. However, you can disarm this weapon and use his stick to defend yourself. Now you can fight with other attackers with the stick.

If you want to learn stick fighting and block, you can take a look at Filipino Martial Arts. I have made some posts before about stick and knife fighting in Kali. The way they attack and defend, that's impressive!

When you have a stick, you can think of it as an extension of your arms. So you can reach the attacker and hit him with the stick. The moment you grab the attacker's stick and take it away from him, it would be stick vs. stick fight if there are multiple attackers.

If the attacker hits you with the stick and it comes from to the side, you can use your stick to block that. You can move your stick to the side. And you can use another hand to support that. If you use only one hand and the attacker strikes you hard, you might get hit in spite of blocking.

So when you block with the stick, you can use the other hand to support that. If the stick comes from upward, you can use the sick to defend that and again use another hand to support. The attacker can attack you below the waist. You can use the stick to block that as well.
