Cakra Donya bell is a historic object which is now one of the collections of Aceh Museum. Historically this bell was given by the Chinese empire through Admiral Cheng Ho who was a formidable voyage, as a bond of friendship between the Chinese kingdom and the Kingdom of Aceh.
Donya chakra is a bell in the form of a Chinese-made stupa 1409 M crown, with height 125 cm and width 75 cm. Chakra means the carriage shaft, the symbols of Vishnu, the horizon or the sun. While Donya means the world. On the outside of Cakra Donya there are decorations and symbols of Chinese and Arabic script. The Chinese script reads Sing Fang Intentions Tong Juut Kat Yat Tjo (Sultan Sing Fa who has been cast in 12 months from the 5th year). While Arabic script can not be read again.
Basically Cakra Donya is the name of a warship of Sultan Iskandar Muda (1607-1636), the Cakra Donya Ship where this bell was hung, in its invasion of the Portuguese in Malacca. In the past the bell from the Donya Chakra's Vessel was hung with an anchor chain on a tree of horses near the Baiturrahnim Mosque in the palace complex to be sounded when the court dwellers had to gather to hear the Sultan's announcement. However, since 1915 M Cakra Donya was transferred to the Aceh Museum and placed in the dome. Chain of Chakra Donya length 9.63 cm is a chain of iron that used to be used to hang Donya Cakra bells on a tree of horses in front of Baiturrahim Mosque within the complex of the Sultanate Palace of Aceh Darussalam until 1915.
