**_Update:_**

Later that evening, the local police engaged in a high speed chase and exchanged gunfire with the shooter, after which the shooter crashed his car into a house.  When responders approached, he was found to be deceased.  No cause of death has been released.  Aside from the shooter, there were no additional casualties after the incident at the retirement community. Who could have imagined that a marching band fundraising page would wind up writing about a murder investigation?

**Breaking News:** The West Chester area made international news tonight, and not in a good way.

We received a call from Superintendent Scanlon tonight advising us of a shooting at the nearby  the Bellingham Retirement Community, and stating that the shooter is still on the loose, so the schools within a 2 mile radius have been locked down.  This includes the marching band at [West Chester East](https://steemit.com/photography/@rgkmb-unofficial/west-chester-east-high-school-flag-with--2018-09-13-21-24-41) high school.  It would seem that they were holding rehearsal at the time of the shooting.

@cmp2020 takes voice lessons in a voice studio right up the street from there, and we also saw that another student was in lessons at the time and has to wait for the lockdown to be lifted to be able to go home after lessons.

Subsequent news searches revealed that 2 people are reported dead; police and ambulance and ATF are all on the scene.
