I was planning a departure back to Canada in a few months with my new wife, unsure of what'd come next business-wise. And then, my good friend, deep house producer Martin East, made me an offer:\n\nGet some mixes together to pitch to a high-level music industry executive he was good friends with and aiming to line up DJs for a series of Corona-sponsored global festivals. If the deal unfolded, I'd be flown around the world, getting paid like $5000+ per gig playing to tens of thousands of people. *Okay.*\n\nWell, it *didn't* work out.\n\nAnd, I'm kinda happy it didn't, as I've enjoyed the path I've been on more than *that* appeals to me at this point.\n\nNonetheless, out of the proposition came these three promo mixes.\n\n*Golden.*\n\nI'll never expect most to understand the intricate details only a seasoned pro DJ or music connoisseur would pick up. There's *alot* of depth and deliberate subtle particulars crafted into several of my past mixes that would well-escape the average listener's attention. \n\nRegardless...\n\nThere's a certain *energy* that went into these ones.\n\nThe vibe of *success.*\n\nI had set out to the Island Of The Gods intent on *rocking it.* And I did.\n\nI played the best beach clubs. Dues were paid. And I *lived* the definition of \"professional\" to pretty much the highest degrees of the game and playing field - while perhaps not rising to stardom and fame, performing well-on-par with the top. In a way, I plateaued. And in these mixes, went *all* the glory of those four years in Bali - the culmination of all my musical victories - and the spirit that fuelled me to that level.\n\nI *had* played to win. And that same drive was channeled into this mix: the sheer passion that fueled the manifestation of a dream, the pure love for exceptional quality music mixed with alchemical mastery.\n\nI've been through numerous cycles with DJing, fluctuating from intense enthusiasm to burnout. Yet, relistening to this music is always a wonderful grounding point, returning me to seeing both the talent *and* heart & soul I'd poured into my craft.\n\nThe blend on this one... *ahhhh.*\n\nWords can't describe. So I won't even try.\n\nThough one story to share...\n\nI had played this on mix my wedding day, several times.\n\nWe ended up in the Presidential Suite at the Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali resort, and listening to this work in that space of utmost opulence... *pure magic.*\n\nAlso, I had it playing on the lawn where we were wed just before sunset as guests arrived. Nice, this is a pretty sick mix!  It sounds different from most music that I play through my speakers...is it by any chance playing at 432hz?  Whatever the case may be, I'm really digging this mix, it's the kind of music that gives me goosebumps, and like Swedish House Mafia used to always say, "goosebumps never lie" :)  Thank you SO MUCH by the way for showing some love on my radio show recap post, that was such an unexpected surprise for me to come back to, and I really appreciate it so much!  Do you ever go to raves and EDM festivals too?
