Earlier this year, Trump administration and government regulators unveiled a major push Friday afternoon at the White House to accelerate the rollout of the high-speed, next-generation mobile data technology known as 5G.  President Trump isn’t shy and wants to be beat the world in 5G development and deployment.

5G ((short for 5th Generation) is the next generation of mobile communication. 5G brings three new aspects to the table: greater speed (to move more data), lower latency (to be more responsive), and the ability to connect a lot more devices at once (for sensors and smart devices). 5G will be a whole new kind of network, enabling new experiences that will change how we live, work, and play.

Out of the three names, Xilinx is the most intriguing.  In May, U.S. Commerce Department placed Huawei Technologies on a trade blacklist, citing national security concerns. This allowed the U.S. government to restrict sales of U.S.-made goods to the company, and some more limited items made abroad that contain U.S. technology. 

One such company that was affect was Xilinx.  Xilinx reported their second quarter earnings in October.   Although revenue rose year over year, they announced weaker forward guidance.  For the third quarter, the company expects its revenue to fall 9.4% year over year to $720 million. 

During the company’s earnings release, CEO Victor Peng, they see headwinds in the second half related to continuing business restrictions and macro-related weakness, but the company’s revenue should stop declining in the third quarter and should return to sequential growth in the fourth quarter.

Now a couple of weeks ago the Trump administration issued 75 licenses to allow some suppliers to restart sales Huawei after blacklist six months ago.  So is Xilinx stock price is near the bottom as well?

If the company reports their third quarter earnings in late January, see where the stock price is relative to the weekly demand at $85 for a possible long.
