799 - Modernos Meio Dólares Comemorativos - Parte 8
Continuando a série "Os Meio Dólares Comemorativos Americanos Modernos".

A informação abaixo vem, em sua maior parte, de https://moderncommemoratives.com/

"O Programa Americano de Moedas Comemorativas Modernas começou em 1982. Neste ano a US Mint lançou meio-dólares comemorativos para celebrar os 250 anos do nascimento de George Washington. Desde esta data, moedas comemorativas foram emitidas quase todos os anos para celebrar pessoas, locais, eventos e instituições famosas americanas.

Cada moeda comemorativa é autorizada por um Ato do Congresso, que especifica o objeto a ser comemorado, as denominações das moedas a serem emitidas e a tiragem máxima autorizada para cada uma."


Todas as moedas pesam 11,34 g com 91,67% de cobre e 8,33% de níquel. Eles foram emitidos com acabamento Brilliant Uncirculated e Proof.

Elas serão apresentadas na ordem em que foram criadas, mas apenas uma de cada design.

A oitava é a MS70 1991-1995-P "World War II".

"O meio dólar da Segunda Guerra Mundial, de 1991-1995, foi cunhado e emitido em 1993 para comemorar o 50º aniversário do envolvimento da América na Segunda Guerra Mundial. O programa de moedas comemorativas incluía três moedas diferentes, meio dólar clad, dólar de prata e $5 de ouro." 


A PCGS gradou 1.924 1991-1995-P "World War II", com 172 como MS70. 197.072 1991-1995-P "World War II" Half Dollars foram cunhados em Filadélfia.

Comprei esta moeda em 2014 por $142.00  e o preço de hoje é no entorno de $125.00. O preço de emissão foi de $9.00.

O obverso mostra os rostos de um soldado, um marinheiro e um aviador, olhando para o alto. Um bombardeiro B-17 voa acima e um "V" para a vitória está em segundo plano.
