Forget About Money. Steemit Is Art!

Lately, Steemit has become a place where I see *a kind of people* who constantly rant about flagging, bad whales, the price of steem falling, bots, small payouts etc. There are huge debates about how unfair the platform has become or just bring a bad attitude in general. I guess they think Steemit owe them something, when in fact, I don't see them adding much or any value to the platform.

If a newcomer reads what is *trending* and *hot*, he might get the wrong message Steemit is advocating. Even worse, he might think that the platform is dying.

Yes, we have some problems, but let's face it, all social media have some weak spots. The difference is that with Steemit, all this information is public and we, the users, have a saying in the way this place is headed. Welcome to a decentralized network!

And there are the other types of steemians - **the creative artists.** They don't really care about how much percent the price of steem is falling. They don't care if they will get $1 or $20 from their work. Artist on Steemit are the most original and regular content creators. They don't copy other site's content in hope that some whale will like it. They don't complain or rant, they just bring a positive attitude and share their art with us.

After all, I wouldn't care if the price of steem falls to 0.01 cent as long as I find and connect with all the unique artists here. Musicians, writers, photographers, filmmakers and the of creative people immortalizing their artwork on the blockchain is what really adds value to Steemit.

The fact that we make anything is pretty amazing. This is a site with a few thousand active users and we can make more than on sites with millions. I hope it can be a great place for artists to show their work and get paid. I've already paid for some art with Steem and hope to do so again.

I actually disagree a little bit here, as far as I know most of active users care about the money they might make here(how much they care varies of course), 
and to be honest earning money is steemit thing( that makes steemit unique in terms of other social medias). I myself am not here to make money and spend it right now! I am having fun, engaging with others , try to post about the things I value and I think might be useful,funny.etc.. for others, and I also think about steemit as a kind of investment(I don't expect to make good money in couple of months, but I hope steem price gets to a level that I can do that). so let's hope steem price does not get to a level that you could not find any motivation for posting (because high quality post drains energy and is not easy at all)

I see Steemit has a high risk investment, a chance to be involved in a cutting edge social media startup. If the experiment fails, I have not lost money,  just some time, but I've really been pushed to produce art, I really like that! So it's all good for me ... I don't think it's good for moral to take money with flagging. This is like putting a bandage on an infected sore in hopes everything will turn out okay.

 For others who may be acting aggressively or seem to be acting aggressively, they may have invested a lot of money and time, they have more to lose.

I totally agree with you on this, the ones that are really aggressively active here are under pressure, because they invested big money and they expect to make more than others, as a result sometimes seeing others making more money by just posting or messing around(in their point of view), they don't accept it and start flagging them

I understand. What I'm trying to say here is that you can't put a price on art. Technically you can, but it's not the price that adds value to an atrwork.
Of course I don't expect everybody here to be people from the art scene.
Plus there are tons of websites where artists can make profit by selling their work. It's too bad that people take for granted all the technology behind Steemit and are here just for the $$$

as I said money is not the only reason, rather a good motivation, for example the estimated money that I made so far does not even make up for my time spent here, but I like it anyway and hoping for earning more money is always on the background, meanwhile I am having fun :)

Totally agree with you. 
Instead of focusing on the bad sad of things and entering in disputes and wars , people should focus on creating good content, that would attract readers/followers.  This is how the platform will grow, not by complaining all the time.

I have been here just for a little over a month and I have already written more poems than during all last year. I just love it. I don't know if ever cash the money out here for I want to invest in the platform first, but I am definitely taking my poems with me.
