Born from the interaction between man and nature, the Marmore Waterfall, with its total height difference of 165 meters, is one of the highest in Europe, as well as being an inevitable destination for anyone who decides to enjoy a stay among the Umbrian beauties of province of Terni.

The Marmore Waterfall, which owes its name to the calcium carbonate salts that settle on the rocks of the mountain giving reflections similar to those of white marble crystals, is a real spectacle for the eyes and is proof of how the man can change nature without ruining it.

The birth of the waterfall, in fact, dates back to Roman times, when in 271 BC the consul Manio Curio Dentato ordered the construction of a channel for the outflow of the stagnant waters of the Velino towards the Nera, so that its passage through the Reatina valley did not create marshy areas harmful to the population.

Its three jumps offer a unique experience that reaches its maximum splendor when the flow of water is at the peak of its power, something that happens only at certain times of the day, as it is a controlled-flow waterfall used for energy production hydropower.

Those who choose to reach the Park and enjoy a special day alone with nature have a double chance of visiting the waterfall, enjoying spectacular views of the jump from different points of view.

The entire protected area is a collection of paths that wind through a naturalistic context of extreme beauty. Holm-oaks and black hornbeams create a luxuriant vegetation while ferns and mosses creep between the rocks of the river.
