Most of my 20's was all about extreme training and racing.  I would run sometimes twice a day and sometime only have one rest day every couple weeks.   Absolutely addicted to running and cycling.  If I missed a day of training, I would be a hot mess.

You know you're addicted to running, when you have a severe stomach flu and it doesn't stop you from hitting the road.  Didn't matter if my stomach was jacked or if I had severe cold, I was counting the miles.   

I can remember one particular run, that stands out as one of the craziest ever in all my ears of running.   Most people would be in bed or on the toilet with the kind of stomach flu I was suffering through, but I was out on an easy 12 mile run.  Craziest thing about this run, was that it was during a thunder and lightning storm.   Running in the rain for me was always my favorite environment, and I was lucky it was raining hard.   

Not sure how to explain my desire to run, but it was so great that I didn't' stop to poop.  I'm sure I would of stopped to poop if it was a warm sunny day, but it was the opposite.   The storm was dark and the rain was extremely heavy, so I figured my best option was to just poop in my dolphin running shorts.  

The storm was so intense, that I counted only a handful of cars for the first 7 miles.  In my thoughts, I remember thinking that I didn't have place to pull over and the rain would wash it away in the next 5 miles.  So without any regret, I let nature take It's course without slowing my pace.   I can remember coming over the hill just a few miles outside of town and realizing that nobody will ever know my little secret.  That's right....I crapped my pants.   

As I came into town, only a few cars were on the road, because the storm was one to enjoy in the comfort of a home and not driving in the blinding rain.  I came home the same route almost every run, so I can remember like it was yesterday, when I decided to poop in my shorts the second time. 

The rain was even more intense with only a mile to go, and the darkness of night would help me hide the fact that I crapped my pants again.    I can remember laughing to myself and not thinking much about how crazy it was, but that I was getting away with pooping myself on the streets of town.   

As I pulled up to my house, I can remember stripping down behind my pickup and walking to the front door completely naked.  One ot the greatest pleasures back then was taking long warm shower after a run and then falling asleep, and that's exactly what I did.  

The next morning, I wake up to a partial cloudy day and clean running shorts on the driveway.   The rain had pressure washed my shorts clean.  

I have told this story a few times and it always got a lot of laughs.  If you ever had an addiction to running like I did, I'm sure  you understand my decision to crap my pants.   Thank you for reading my story.  I'm @runridefly.
