I think you're right in thinking that the lack of energy and sleepiness is from eating, all your energy is going to digesting XD Whereas when you're fasting you're not needing to do much else and biologically it's probably prompting you to look for the next meal (and logically that doesn't need to happen because it's in the fridge). I would need to do look up what makes up calories (amusingly while we use kilojoules over here people still like saying "calorie counting") for some context as I'm thinking 2500 sounds like a lot, but I'm not sure what "normal" would be.
https://technonaturalist.net/sites/default/files/styles/sensible_display/public/art/2017/11/goatsig-t.png?itok=Ml3FDq7c

Normal for an adult male of average size is around 2000. For my size, the "basal metabolic rate" or resting caloric expenditure is close to 3500/day, so 2500 is a good calorie deficit level. It means about 2 pounds loss a week. A pound of fat is 3500 calories, so 1000 calories a day is 7000 a week or two pounds. We say calorie when we mean kilocalorie. So that's weird. Basically one calorie is 1 kilocalorie which is 1000 calories. Which mens one calorie is 1000 calories. So my 2500 calories is really 2500000 calories. Crazy. We use kilojoules for other energy measurements, as I recall it's 4 KJ = 1 Kcal Oh, here: 4.184 kilojoules = 4,184 joules = 1 Calorie = 1 kilocalorie = 1,000 calories
