Lighting other people with your own light does not reduce the intensity of your light. Showing others the way to go does not make you lose your path. I feel very amazed when people think that they will reduce by helping others. Well, just to let you know, the help you give to others does not in any way reduce you. The person may not appreciate the goodness but it should not stop you from doing good anyway.

The goodness in us should not be conditional but it should be shown to all for the sake of humanity. Doing good to people should be without recourse to whether we are expecting something else in return. Many people tend to do good to only those they hope to seek favour from in the future or to only those that have favoured them in the past. Well, it is good but you should also go beyond that to other people.

We appreciate when favour is done to us right? But in each passing day, how many people do you show favour to? If at the end of each day and you can't point out to a single "thank you" you received for the day, then you should check your level of goodness. I'm not saying that you should expect "thank you" messages whenever you do good to people but at least, it can be a vague pointer to know if you are actually helping people or not.

Many people are already passing through intense downtimes and untold deprivation and the only hope they have to survive may be the good that you will do to them. Denying them that particular good might be an express way of allowing them to crack under pressure. No matter what social status you are at the moment, there must be at least one thing you can use to help people. Believe me, no matter where you are now, there is someone that your status is higher than and there is someone you have more privileges than, so you need to use the privileges to help people.

The beauty of light is only appreciated when light is absent. In the same way, your acts of goodness will make much sense and will be most appreciated in this world and era that is filled with bad actors and cruelties. Always remember this; you can only win the war of darkness with light and not with another darkness.
