Putting your hopes on people may sometimes be very costly. The person you have been looking up to for assistance may be in a position where they also need bigger assistance. This is the reason I tell people; if you do not want your hopes to be disappointed, then do not hope too much on people. If they help you, fine, but do not convince yourself that it is your right to be helped.

If some of the people you have been crushing on their wallet tell you what they are passing through, you will appreciate your own position. People have various areas where they need help. You may be hoping that your "rich" friend can help you out with a few bucks to pay your house rent, while he may be praying for $10,000 to complete his $100,000 house mortgage.

Sometimes, it may not be their intention not to help you but they are just helpless themselves. No matter what you think of anyone, it is always good to know that none of the people you are hoping to help you actually owe you anything. If they help you, then you should count it as a privilege, not that they are mandated to do so.

With this, you will not be disappointed even if nothing comes from them. In this life, you do not have limitless amount of time to keep hoping blindly. Believe me, the greatest help you can get at anytime is the one you give to yourself.

I have seen where blood relations dashed the hopes of each other, not because they wanted to, but by reason of some conditions beyond their control. The truth is, more often than not, it may not be the person you have banked your hopes on that will eventually lend a helping hand to you - it may be someone else.

Always keep an open mind without limiting your hopes to a particular person, so that you will not be disappointed at the end. Also try to be a source of hope to someone else. It would not hurt a bit to be an answer to someone else's prayer, not always being a prayer point yourself.
