The Power Of Positive Association

<p>I have to tilt a little from my normal trend of science-based posts to bring us this. I’ve noticed a gross negligence in the area of friendship and associations, and it would be a <em>contributory negligence</em> on my own part to overlook this important area.</p>
<p>It is a very known fact that “<strong>no one is an island of himself</strong>”. But, much more to making friend, is the fact that your friendship determines, to a large extent, the outcome of your life. That is why I advocate for the right friendship.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A popular adage goes like this:</p>
<blockquote>Show me your friend, and I’ll tell you who you are.</blockquote>
<p>I think these words are so true, even though some may not quite agree fully with it.</p>
<p>But before you go out to make friends, there’s something you need to consider and reconsider. And that is; you need to make friends with people in the same destiny route with you.</p>
<p>Like it’s been said:</p>
<blockquote>Your friends either make you or mar you</blockquote>

<p><strong>Here are perfect definitions of true friendship</strong></p>
<ul>
  <li>Someone who sees your hidden tears when everyone else sees only your smiley face</li>
  <li>Someone who “hits” you with the truth, instead of comforting you with lies</li>
  <li>Someone who adds to you; more especially to your joy</li>
  <li>Someone who comes in when everyone else has gone out</li>
</ul>
<p>Someone once described a true friend as:</p>
<blockquote>Someone who knows all about you, but still likes you anyway</blockquote>

<p>Everyone needs friends. And no one can outgrow the need for friendship. As a matter of precision, friendship doesn’t have substitute (well, if it does, I’d love to know the substitute). But one thing I know is; true friendship is truly priceless.</p>

<p><strong>Wanna get good friends? Here are some points to note</strong></p>
<ul>
  <li>First make yourself friendly: To get a good friend, you have to be a good friend.</li>
</ul>
<p>Like I once said:</p>
<blockquote>“Do not go looking for a good friend until you’ve become a good friend; you must meet the requirements of your requirements” @samminator</blockquote>
<ul>
  <li>Form it as a habit to speak nicely with people. And most importantly, this must be accompanied with a heart-emanated smile.</li>
  <li>Learn to call people by name. Believe me, there’s no music as sweet as the sound of someone’s name heard from a friendly voice. A pet name could suffice too.</li>
  <li>Remember that “<strong>you don’t have a second opportunity to make a first impression</strong>”. So make it count</li>
  <li>Always consider the feelings of people. This is so much appreciated.</li>
  <li>Respect other people’s opinions.</li>
  <li>Be willing to help.</li>
</ul>
<p>Before I go, I’ll like to remind us this: A wrong association can annihilate, in seconds, what you’ve built for years. So be guided. <strong>Always use your brain</strong>.</p>

You NEVER have to constantly make excuses for a real friend.

If you find yourself constantly thinking, "Oh he annoys me but.. I guess it's okay because he's actually not a bad person. He was just drunk/having a bad day."

Nah!
