For over two years I have been researching [natural vision correction](https://steemit.com/health/@samstonehill/correct-your-near-or-far-sighted-vision-the-natural-way-free-of-charge-join-this-exciting-film-project-and-let-us-promote) and today I have something very special for you.
I am shortsighted, just -2 in both eyes, but this is enough to make distance objects appear blurry and I am ready now to see the full intensity of twinkling stars at night without the aid of glasses or contacts.
Until last month I believed the solution to be diet, eye exercises & meditations. Between 1-2 hours per day for a total of 60 days. While I still believe it is possible to achieve success in this time frame, there was always something about this method which just felt too complicated and as such I never committed myself to it. Nor did I run my promised 60 day vision correction course, knowing so many of us would fail for the same reason.

## Jake Steiner
Despite this realisation, I did not give up on the subject and recently stumbled upon the work of [Jake Steiner](https://endmyopia.org/end-myopia-home/) who cured his myopic vision and now runs courses to help others do the same. I have just finished his free online 7 day course and joined his Facebook group which can be found [here](https://www.facebook.com/groups/1089107784505862/)

Most of what he teaches I feel like I have a good knowledge of already, but with one notable difference: the solution.
Unlike almost all of the other 'vision gurus' out there who suggest we should wear our glasses as little as possible, Jake teaches us that we shouldn't stop wearing them (for distance vision) and by taking control of the exact prescription we are wearing we can slowly over time adjust them back to 20/20.
## The problem in a nutshell
Fully understanding the problem is an important part of the solution, so please read on carefully.
There are actually two problems to address:
- The first is the initial problem which caused us to become myopic, usually during our childhood.
- The second is the wearing of glasses which have been prescribed to us by a professional.

Our myopia usually begins in school because we are forced into doing loads of close up work, creating a strain.

But here is the kicker:

So, if we keep wearing our prescription glasses we are only perpetuating the problem, meaning we will need an ongoing supply of ever stronger prescriptions.
Great for business, not so great for us.

## Goes both ways
The key to reversing myopia is axial change. The eye is a stimulus response machine, so its refractive state will change based on input.
If we can elongate our eyes slowly over time by using lenses, then so too can we correct their shape over time by using lenses.
Axial change goes both ways.
## The solution
Jake suggests that we order a bunch of glasses online which will be used to gently coax our eyes back to normal. For legal reasons he doesn't give too many details on how much we should reduce our prescription by and mostly leaves the specifics up to the people sharing their experiences with him. Of whom there are many.
So, based on what I can see people talking about I am intending to buy five new pairs of glasses:
Current prescription: -2
- -1.5
- -1.25
- -1
- -0.75
- -0.5
I can see some people in the FB group are even taking it further by buying +0.5 glasses to take their eyes that last little bit.
All of this may seem excessive but I am 100% sure now these will be the last glasses I ever wear. Ordering them online is the way to go for best price.
## Measuring our own 'prescription'
It is called a prescription because it is prescribed to us. We are immediately made to feel like it is impossible to measure our eyes at home. This however, is just a trick.
WE CAN EASILY DO IT OURSELVES WITHOUT A CHART!
It's crazy how simple it is.
- Take your glasses off
- Move your head back from this screen until you see the first sign of blur
- Measure this distance between your eyes and the screen in cms

Some people in the Facebook group have created cool looking systems to get this job done accurately... and regularly.
This device works great because we always measure one eye at a time.
## The common misunderstanding
The eyes are in a constant state of flux and your results are going to change depending on your mood, your tiredness, what time of day, the lighting... etc.
This is why it is absurd to buy glasses from an optician based on one eye test in a darkened room. It is also the reason why we will almost always walk out of there with a prescription which is too strong for us, further perpetuating the problem.
So, to get an accurate picture of your eyes, many measurements must be taken over a period of time. And it may be that you choose to use different prescriptions for different jobs or at different times of day based on these results. That's why we buy a bunch of different pairs right at the beginning.
## The most important factor
We should not be wearing distance glasses when we are performing close up work. It's so easy to just leave the glasses on all the time, but this is a big mistake which will cost us over time.
So, it is better to either take them off or wear the weakest possible prescription for close up work.
## How quickly can we expect results?
If you are new to this subject you will already be experiencing an improvement. The transition from believing it is not possible to believing it is... well, this is quite a powerful kind of transition. Personally I saw my eyesight improve straight away, going from -2.25 to -2 without having to do anything at all.
After this it is up to us to take regular measurements and downgrade our prescription accordingly over time.

## Can we trust him?
Absolutely. There are 10,500 members in his FB group and they are very vocal about the success they are having with his system.
