Indian mother in law's are a whole new species. I won't say that all mother in law's in India are the same because there are some amazing ones that can surely make you forget your biological mother, but most of them are cruel and stone hearted. The problem with Indian mother in law's is that they don't see you as a new member in the family, instead they see you as a predator who is at her home to take away her grown up son. They see you as a competition and that makes her compete with her daughter in law to win her son's heart, unfortunately the suferer is always the son/husband in every case as he doesn't know whom to support. No matter who wins, it is always the man who is at loss.

I don't think any woman steps into a marital relationship to fight and take away her husband. It is always the treatment that she received from her mother in law that forces her to live separately and to be with her and the kids the man has to follow. A mother in law fails to understand that it is not that difficult to live peacefully with a new woman in the house.

A mother and a wife are two different important roles in a man's life and one cannot replace the other. In the beginning the mother in law holds the control of the household. She orders and her son and daughter in law has to follow because the daughter in law is new to the house and her husband would not trust her since she is inexperienced. With time, things change, the mother in law is old now and the daughter in law remembers every time that her mother in law has done injustice to her and she in no way would let even one chance to pay back. 

Some days back I stumbled upon a piece of news on the internet about a woman who mercilessly thrashed her 75 year old mother in law by dragging her outside the house. Bystanders recorded the video and posted it on social media. The video soon went viral and attracted the attention of local authorities who arrested the woman. The woman claimed that it was a property related dispute that prompted her to do injustice to this senior citizen. 

The woman is presently in custody of the cops. But it really makes me wonder if the property dispute was the actual reason or was the woman taking the revenge.
