### Preamble: How old is our civilization? The answer to this question keeps changing over the last 2,000 years and will continue to change as we learn more about “our past”. One thing is clear – our “civilization” isn’t the first to have existed on this planet. 

### Just how many civilizations existed before us? The “oldest” civilization that is widely accepted at this time is the Sumerian which is believed to have existed around 4000 BC. Not everyone agrees though since several other pieces of “history” are not accounted for. The giants mentioned in the bible, the “fluvial” erosion in the body of the Sphinx in Egypt that could not have occurred before 10,000 BC, the Nephilim mentioned in Genesis (6:4) who took earthy women for wives who gave birth to the “giants”, the Anunnakis - believed to have created humans by altering ape’s DNA and ruled over earth for over 400,000 years.

### History as we know it is incomplete and convoluted with mythology. But advances in technology is allowing us to separate history from myths. 

### I don’t know about you, but I want to know who or what created us and for what purpose. I think this is the ultimate riddle that sentient beings like us should strive to get an answer for. Imagine that you woke up one day with no memory of who you are. Would you not spend the rest of your life finding out who you really are, who your parents were, whether you have a family etc.? In a way, this is what happened to us. We forgot. Or maybe something tricked us to forget our true nature and our rightful place in the universe.

It seems we’ve committed a historic blunder in translating the original text. Were these deliberate or an honest mistake?

#### The creation of Man as we know it today
Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters. The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold. The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush. The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Ashur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” 

The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. #### The creation of Man as we NOT know it today
A tablet was found in Nippur, an ancient city founded in 5000 BC, which documents the story of the Annunaki. According to the Sumerian “mythology”, human-like, extra-terrestrial beings came down to earth. As to what purpose they came to our planet is a subject of debate. Zecharia Sitchin’s interpretation is that they came here to mine gold – an ingredient they need to repair their aging planet – Nibiru. A more modern interpretation claims that they came to escape the civil war that destroyed their civilization.

According to the tablet, the Annunaki workers revolted against their king after thousands of years of labor in the mine fields. Anu, the “god of the gods”, agreed that the labor was too great and so Enki, one of his children, proposed the idea of creating “a new man” to help with the labor. Enki and his sister Ninki would work together to bring this idea to life. To create man, a god was sacrificed. His body and his blood (DNA) were mixed with that of the “apeman” to create the first human being in the likeness of the gods. (It took them several years to experiment with many existing animals on earth and the combination with the apeman proved successful).

#### Something was “Lost in Translation”?
The Sumerians believed that man was created in the image of god, much like the Bible states. The bible however tells of Adam, the first man to have lived in the Garden of Eden. 

The Sumerian word Edin, was deciphered to mean "steppe" or "flat terrain", so modern scholarship has abandoned the use of the phrase "Babylonian Garden of Eden" as it has become clear the "Garden of Eden" was a later concept. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Eden is mentioned as the garden of the gods and is located somewhere in Mesopotamia between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.

The word “garden” was synonymous to the word “paradise” which was derived from the Greek word “paradeisos” which means “garden, enclosure or park”.

On a similar strain, there’s been an extensive study on the etymology of the word “Adam” but none of the modern languages including Hebrew helped. It turned out that “Adam” is a Sumerian word meaning “animal”.

Thus, with this new light, the word “paradise” can now be ascertained to mean an enclosed area where animals are kept. The “garden of Eden” therefore isn’t a paradise as we know it today, but rather a plantation and/or a minefield. This fits the story the Sumerians creating laborers to tend their fields and mine shafts.  

Note that the Sumerian word “Edin” consists of  “E” means “home” and din means “life”

Another interesting theory is that some forms of humans were already populating the planet when the Sumerian “gods” descended from the sky to settle on their new-found home. As to what level in evolution humans have attained when the gods arrive is something we do not have any evidence found yet. 

What’s clear is that the Sumerian god Enki modified the human DNA to create tamed workers. 

Human chromosome 2 is what set’s us apart from any other animals on earth. It’s the chromosome that gives humans logic, consciousness and the knowledge to know right from wrong. The intricate and very precise fusion of chromosome 2 into the human DNA cannot be explained by evolution which was popularized by Charles Darwin. Think of it this way - the lions, cockroaches and bees will never acquire consciousness and learn the duality principle of good and evil over the next thousands of years. They may change their physical appearance and other traits but there is no way they will know that hunting and eating fellow animals is evil.

The human gene was changed to “enlighten” mankind. It was the mission of the god Enki. His half-brother Enlil who ruled from the sky has a different agenda. He wanted humans to remain as slaves, good at following orders and are incapable of deciding their own destinies. Human’s acquiring the ability to be more than just slaves through Enki sparks a division among the gods which escalated into a war between Enlil and Enki, the two highest-ranking gods of the Sumerian civilization. 

The book of Genesis was written around 300 BC. It was not until 400 AD when the bible was made or “compiled”. When scholars were compiling the book of Genesis, did they deliberately took out some elements of the original text to establish the dominance of the religious organization and central governments over the people similar to what the Sumerians did?
