Phantom- Part 1 A We-Write Short Story.
This is the first part of a Partner We-Write for the prompt- "phantom" by @zeldacroft, and @freewritehouse

I put up my hand to shield my eyes from the bright lights. It just did not work. *WTF* I shook my head a few times and scrunched my eyes and hid my face in my hands. Still the bright lights were shining right in my eyes. *MY EYES. I have lost my eyes!*

I sat up and looked in all directions. *I can see.* It was hazy and it seemed that all color had dimmed but I could see. I was sitting on a stretcher by the side of the road. The bright lights were the headlights of a police van. People all around me were busy photographing and picking up pieces of.... My car and the pick up that crashed into me veering from three lanes across. The bang must have been a blow out and the pick up had just turned in my direction. I had braked, I had been standing on the brake pedal trying to swerve away but the skid had taken me right into the truck . The Loud crash and the burning pain in my neck was the last thing I remembered.

Then I saw that I could see through my hands and my legs.  They were bagging me, my body. And I was sitting right there. *I am a Ghost. A Phantom...AAAAHH*  Before I knew it the area around me.. everything- the asphalt, the stretcher, the body bag,  clothing of the few medics still nearby,  all started to burn at once. I ran and kept on running, till I could think again. A harsh laugh started inside me and doubled. *Thinking without brains and laughing without throats.* Again I felt a change in the pace around me- I was like a center of a small whirlwind, scraps and plastic were flying up and around. *OK OK Calm down. Deep Breaths.* This started another bout of whirlwinds.

At this time I did not know how I ended up as a phantom.

Great start! I'm wondering why they would leave the injured person where the bright lights would blind him so, but then find out he's a goner. Heading over for the second part now. Nice job!
