Seablue Journal: A new video series on philosophy
##### Nietzsche and Truth: Skepticism and the Free Spirit.

A bit of a ramble really, but I didn't want to just post a video link and say nothing about it. This channel ['Academy of Ideas'](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiRiQGCHGjDLT9FQXFW0I3A) has created a number of videos concerning the philosophy of Nietzsche. If you are looking for a quick summary of his ideas, I would recommend them as an appetizer. I'm only just starting to read his philosophy.

I have had a yearning to understand what life means from a very early stage in my life. I don't know whether I have shared how I used to ponder about God when I was young. I had a fascination with religion and religious places, but my parents were not particularly religious. It wasn't until my teenage years that I really threw myself into religion. I say this to set the scene for my exploration of Nietzsche of late. I pretty much ignored his work, as I most often saw it being quoted by atheists in debates concerning God and morality. He was spoken of very highly, but I had my own views at the time and I didn't want to be distracted from particular lines of thought I was exploring myself, such as the role of religion, good and evil, God and Christ. I don't think I would have appreciated his work at the time anyway.

Now, I haven't as yet completed reading much of his work. Most of what I have recently come to understand has come to me as summaries of his philosophy. This has wet my appetite for more though. Jordan Peterson refers to him often in his lectures. Having solidified many of my own values already, I'm more open to reading and hearing the ideas that others have had, to see what they offer. It surprised me how much I have thought for myself that aligns with certain philosophers from the past, so I'm glad I spent the time discovering what I thought, before reading too much about what others thought.
