Lettere alla fidanzata

Cosa spinge così incodizionatamente Pessoa ad amare  così tanto la sua piccola Ophelinha?cos'è l'amore? e quanto è disposto l'uomo a fare per questo sentimento?Pessoa sicuramente vive con malinconia il sentimento amoroso, e proprio da quella malinconia e quell'inquietudine ne trae quella meravigliosa dolcezza che rende uniche le sue parole, fattore che risulta evidente dai racconti della sua fortunatissima "nininha" sempre al centro dell'agire e dei pensieri di Fernando,che Ophelia la coccola la ama e la protegge. Pessoa ritiene che l'amore sia un sentimento ridicolo(ammette lo stesso "todas as cartas de amor sao ridiculas),affermazione che a primo acchito può sembrare paradossale,ma non lo è affatto, perchè Fernando essendo estremamente sensibile soffre tanto per Ophelia( è follemente geleso di lei,si sente sempre inferiore a presunti pretendenti,si crea due altre identità per rapportarsi all'amata)e probabilmente per sminuire l'importanza del suo sentimento si autoconvince che l'amore non è importante,d'altronde -se passa la vita che è tutto,passa anche l'amore,vero?. E' interessantissimo seguire la storia d'amore tra Fernando ed Ophelia, attraverso l'inquieta ma dolcissima penna di Fernando.
