My family had just moved into a new apartment, not really far from where we moved. We hope and pray that it will be a pleasant place for us. It is a big building with a playground for the kids. I decided to let my children go out and meet with other kids even if it's just for a few minutes. They were so happy and joined the playgroup.

I was sitting and watching how they were playing and interacting. My girls were mingling  Welland was having fun. After some running around,  they decided to play a game called duck and goose.  They all sat down forming a circle and one of them started by touching each head while saying duck and anyone who was touched with the word goose will have to chase the caller around.  If you catch up, you will be the next caller and if not before the current caller has a sit in your place,  you will be put in the middle and you can only watch.  

It was fun and I was watching. It got to a small boy's turn and he touched his sister.  She caught him and he was put in the middle along with others.  The sister asked if he can join the circle again but the older ones said no. She was not pleased and was playing the game reluctantly.  Then she stopped suddenly and went into the circle to sit with her brother.  Others were like telling her how things should go.  Then she faced one of them and said "he is my brother and I will decide what he should do. So we are not playing  again." She got hold of her brother and begin to move.  Then the older ones stopped them and told her to not worry and joined the game again.  They were both happy and the game continued. 

I was smiling seeing how she had defended her brother. The brother definitely knows that he has a sister who can defend her at any time so the confidence will be there. 
Although I am always telling my children to look after each other and seeing that assured me of then taking care of one another.
