Often, the major military projects are more about the spending than the actual product.

I think that's how people move through this world holding extreme positions.... there HAS to be a disconnect. hehehe or .... they would have an "aha" moment

POST TRUTH

It is interesting that we can connect to so much information, to so many different viewpoints, and still people will return to their 'trusted' news sources and everything else is biased or fake.  

It happens on both sides of the spectrum, from left to right and the pendulum swings back and forth. Two sides remaining disconnected.

I tend to view the world through both sides of the coin.  Having opposing views is not necessarily bad - often times they lead to awareness and growth.   I think the problem comes in when we filter the truth through the human mind - it's bound to get distorted because we 'all' carry some bias and opinion.  

I think people could improve more on their listening of others' views along with a little more diplomacy and problem solving.   This has largely become obsolete in our modern society - I often cringe at comments I read.  Not pretty.  Circular arguments never end nor amount to answers or resolutions ;)    IMHO

Personally, I don't trust corporate news any longer.  I can't tell you how many headlines and articles I've read that upset me enough to research for myself only to find out that the information was either completely false or sprinkled with half truths.   I miss the days of true investigative journalism and the protections of the Smith Mundt Act against propaganda.

Lack of critical thinking skills is an epidemic.

"Disconnects and the willingness of others to take part in them without question can lead to some pretty serious consequences." Absolutely. It's so easy to just follow some opinion, and so difficult to find out the 'truth'. Maybe it's too difficult with so many choices, so much time needed to invest in everything, that many people just give up? I've noticed this on both sides of the Atlantic. It's sad, thanks for bringing it up.

So true! Multiple research is so important in order to reach the best information... if one out of seven are on one side of the fence and one on the other, well then, it should be obvious and time for rethinking! But there are always those who are not open to seeing, or rather they may be but with their eyes wide shut!!

Sad about the person in your organization....People tend to forget that those with experience are also wise 😉

South of the border, all I can say is that I am glad he is not living on our side of the line.

Fortunately, there are a few non-sheeple such as yourself who are able to at least identify and see the need to learn more. Also the case that we are being sold on things using "feelings" instead of just being given the obvious facts so people can maybe be on the same page for a change.

The disconnect is amazing and real.  One of the very few people I can legitimately discuss matters of opposing views with is my brother.  We each trust the other to not participate in the bullshit and to not take the opinions personally.  It's a RARE situation for me today.

The FA 35.  I have some knowledge of the example aircraft.  It's been in full operation for more than 2 years but is not fully operational anyplace.  It's not a 'great aircraft' by any stretch and still they keep on coming.  At a staggering cost per plane.  All of them are airworthiness certified here in Yuma, AZ (MCAS).  It took a long time to get the first four certified, they had to change the wording before they would qualify....

I once chaired a campaign for a Democrat (Land Commissioner in WA State) as a registered Republican.  That was 40 years ago, but I wouldn't even consider that sort of crossover today.  (And let the record show that I would be crossing the other way now)  The integrity of the entire world seems to have disappeared.

Excellent treatise on disconnects! I, too, have a brother who leans in the opposite direction of my leanings, so  I can definitely relate!
