Tour de Pakistan Day 8

This day was special, we had booked a cabin for the night at Fairy Meadows and although we couldn’t notice the scenery I our surrounding the morning was beautiful as ever. Just in front of us was the Nanga Parbat in all its glory looking like portrait painted by the best artist indeed. We were still tired from all the hiking but after seeing this view all that went away. We had a cup of coffee sitting and sipping from the cup while admiring the beauty of God, the fields around us were luscious green with no sign of any kind of pollution. The people around were friendly the tourists and especially the locals. Our cabin owner used to live in Karachi and so we had a chat with him really nice guy, he told us about the glacier on the mountain. There are two types of glaciers on these mountains the glacier on top which is white in colour are known as female glaciers, and just beneath them the greyish glaciers are male ones I wonder why but this is just how they are categorized.

Up at Fairy Meadows there was no internet, television and mobile signals, we were cut off from all the negativity and chaos of the world enjoying our time. This was the best day of the whole trip, there were wild horses roaming around eating grass and the locals even played polo on horses at a ground near us. Although there wasn’t any match scheduled today so we couldn’t get a glimpse of the fascinating sport. I’m a huge cricket fan and guess what there was a ground on which people were playing and so I joined in too, the pitch on the ground was made such that while batting the Nanga Parbat mountain in just in front of your eye line this was pretty epic, I guess this was the highest altitude on which I played cricket and the best part about it wasn’t even the view. The teams consisted of people coming from different places within Pakistan I met guys from Multan, Abbottabad and Kashmir and instantly we became friends everyone respected each other and greeted each other with compassion.

There were two lakes nearby, one is known as the reflection lake you can actually see Nanga Parbats reflection on this small lake which is quite beautiful, and the other one isn’t that famous but still we went there to see it out of curiosity. I don’t remember its name but the water in it wasn’t that clean and the locals were blaming ignorant tourists for polluting the water in it. Once again here the water that you drink can be collected through streams flowing downhill. We refilled our water bottles the taste of the water wasn’t as sweet as was in Naran but still it was quite drinkable.

There was a point nearby just a few kilometers away known as signal point, just at this point your mobile signals start to connect well we got there and assured our families of our safety and that we are really enjoying the trip. This was because there was a village just below that point and so they needed signals to communicate and so a tower was setup there. The whole day passed by without us realizing the time until it was almost sunset we had another night here and then the next day we were off towards Khunjerab pass.

Looks like quite an adventure! That's interesting the glaciers have different genders assigned to them, I've heard of rocks having different genders as well. 
Seems like such a beautiful and peaceful place there! Must have been really nice. :)
