Kodak, a company which invented digital photography, but failed to predict its potential until it was too late, is back again in news. Rewinding, Kodak filed bankruptcy in 2011 because they failed to keep up with the trend and chose to focus on film-based business model. 

Steve Sasson, the Kodak engineer who invented the first digital camera in 1975, characterized the initial corporate response to his invention this way:

But it was filmless photography, so management’s reaction was, ‘that’s cute—but don’t tell anyone about it.’

That cute thing ate their business away. Kodak’s management made the same mistake which its founder, George Eastman, had avoided twice! The first time when they moved from dry plate business to black and white, and when they moved to black & white from color, despite the fact that the technology was inferior then. They failed to capitalize on the disruptive technology, but they're back and this time around, the technology is blockchain.

Introducing KODAKOne image rights management platform. This platform is created for the photographers. Photographers have been facing the issue of people using their work without licensing. To solve this issue, KodakOne will create an encrypted, digital ledger of rights ownership for photographers to archive their work and register new content. Since this is a blockchain technology, it will be accompanied by a cryptocurrency which they call KODAKCoin. It allows photographers to receive payment immediately when the sale happens.

As with the case of majority of cryptocurrencies, KODAKOne will be issuing KODAKCoin tokens in ICO starting 31st January, 2018.
