There are many teachings in Tibetan Buddhism that give significance and insight into the auspicious places of worship. Pilgrims will walk in a clockwise direction around the place or location while chanting mantra.

When I visited the various monasteries I could see many people carrying out the act of Kora and it was clear that this was a religious ritual. The aura and trance state that followers reach can be felt simply through observation or standing in the area. Some of the most holy ties in the country include various temples and monasteries and it will be easy to spot someone circling these places. I was told that Kora is not limited to these built places either. Aside from lakes and other locations, sacred mountains have also been places where pilgrims will carry out Kora. I found it amazing that Tibetan Buddhism had such devotion to their following, there were such intricate details about their worship practices that left much to be explored. There were various religious relics such as praying wheels, often carried by worshippers. I came to know how important these were to followers and saw many larger prayer wheels within monasteries that were built into the structures themselves.
