I have always envied those who are full time mommies out there. This is sad but true for me. No matter how hard I wanted to be a full time mommy to my kids, especially my youngest, I can't. I don't have a choice. I was torn between spending quality time with them or having a stable job that will suffice our daily expenses. I hope I have made the right choice to have a stable job even if it means I will be spending lesser quality time with them.
My hats off to those who are single parents out there like me. It is not an easy task raising a family of your own, ALONE. But in my case, I praise and thank God because He had blessed me with a stable job in a government office and with a permanent item. This is so far one of my answered prayers. It's been 6 months & I am already a certified public servant.
As of this writing, I am deeply saddened of the fact that I again miss this milestone of my Carleign Seth. Yesterday they celebrated their school's Family Day. It was supposed to be a ***Family Day: with both parents***. But she went to their school and she was with ***Manang Mila***, my nanay's caregiver. I couldn't help my tears rolling down my cheeks now as I write this inside the cashier's booth. I have missed my daughter's family event. I even pleaded her dad to be with her just for this day because I can not file for my leave of absence due to the fact that all 4 officers here were on official travel yesterday. I was the only one allowed to do the cashiering so I have no choice but to work yesterday instead of going with her. I'm crying here now...sob... I know some, if not, all moms out there can relate to my feelings right now. :-(

She was there without me. How I wish I could go with her yesterday. I wanted to be there for her. But I couldn't. She got an award...A ribbon. She showed me yesterday when I got home.

I hugged her tight yesterday when I saw her award. I was still in my office uniform when she heard me knock & she immediately screamed, ***"mommy!***, all pressures, tensions, tiredness, everything faded when I heard her scream like that. A mommy knew her kids full well and I knew that when she screams like that and with the excitement in her voice, I can sense a good news from her. And she opened the door and showed me this:

I was crying and telling her that I'm so proud of her. She hugged me even tighter then in her innocence she asked me to paste in on her dress and she told me to take a photo of her.

We hugged again so tight and I can't help but sob while hugging her tightly until I carried her. She was so happy to see me then she wiped my tears rolling down my cheeks. She said ***mommy stop crying now, I'm happy you're here now, mommy!***. I felt a lump in my throat and assured her while pressing my lips to her cheek, ***I'm so happy to be here now baby. I love you anak.*** She freed herself from my tight hug and replied, touching my face now almost dry from my tears a while ago, ***I love you too, mommy!***
As I finish this post today, I have realized that you can't go wrong when you choose to work especially if it means giving the best for your family, for your kids. Even when it means compromising your quality time with them. I am not blaming my past, my husband or anybody, anything to that effect. I remembered a line from the movie ***Kung Fu Panda 3*** and it was a line from Po's father, Lee Chen which says ***Sometimes, we do the wrong things for the right reason.***
