Impact of my life impacted my life

Steem  impacted my life by broadening my horizons and greatly expanding my knowledge about the banking system and finance. 

I started my cryptocurrency journey with no knowledge of what it was and why it existed. A friend was mining cryptocurrency and told me he would soon quit his job and when he did he got my attention. 

I had always heard rumors of people who built businesses, which worked while they were sleeping or on vacation and when my friend retired and stopped working I thought he had created an online business. Initially my interest was only in replacing dome of my hard earned labor derived income with something easier to attain. But soon I discovered that his income was derived from a source I knew nothing about, called cryptocurrency. 

Thus begun my journey into the world of cryptocurrency. I call it the “Crypto-sphere” it’s my version of a trip into Outer Space. I learned how to build a miner and mine cryptocurrency. I learned about wallets and private keys, along with private phrases. Then I learned about mining pools, then cryptocurrencies with staking wallets, so I bought new cryptocurrencies and staked my coins for passive income. Then I learned about cryptocurrencies with Masternodes. So I bought masternode coins and ran Masternodes for more passive income. I felt so excited and so alive. I felt I had stumbled into this wonderful world of passive income. I had visions of a wonderful life supported completely by staking coins and Masternodes. I was truly happy and it seemed like I was a year from quitting my job! 

But then reality hit. Developers ran away with cash from initial coin sales, coin values plummeted and several of my staking coins were suddenly not worth a millionth of a Bitcoin. It was devastating. My income from mining decreased and suddenly the miners cost more yo run then they were worth. My staking coins continued staking but the coins were worthless. My masternode coins were worthless. I disassembled my miners, sold off their parts, sold my staking and masternode coins where I could and converted everything to bitcoin or dive coin and regrouped. 

Then I learned about Steemit and Steem. But this was different. Everything I experienced my first year in cryptocurrency was about making crypto and cashing out to dollars. But Steemit and Steem were so different. I had a name @shortsegments that identified me not a public key. My wallet had 4 public keys and 4 private keys. My Steem Token could be Steem, SBD or SteemPower. There were articles to read and people to chat with. I was no longer a lone wolf scavenging in the wild. I was part of a community. I was not alone! I could read articles and ask people questions. I could use the search engine yo look things up and I could could go to the Steem github and see how things worked. Suddenly I was learning the true meaning of decentralization, immutability, security, transactions, memos and what the blockchain really could do for people. I learned about the Steemit economy and the active and passive methods of creating income. Suddenly I was in a different place mentally with a greater understanding of banking and finance. 

Steem and Steemit gave me knowledge about banking, finance, the global centralized system, Bitcoin and lastly distributed proof of Stake and my head neatly exploded. I because do knowledgeable and confident that my whole life changed. I had such a better understanding of things it changed my investment strategy and my whole focus shifted towards the future of technology and finance: the blockchain. 

My knowledge of content creation, curation and delegation allowed me to get yo dolphin my first year and near orca status my second. My knowledge of Tokenization and blockchain increases every year. I feel confident that I will earn from this foundation and be financially independent. I have no fear about money because I can make money. While it’s easier to make it when you have it, as in all financial arenas. It’s nurtured here.
