Komodo dragons, or more commonly called Komodo dragons (Varanus komodoensis, are the largest lizard species in the world that live on the islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang, and Gili Dasami in Nusa Tenggara. These monitor lizards are also called by local names of people. .

Including members of the monitor lizard family Varanidae, and the Toxicofera clad, the Komodo dragon is the largest lizard in the world, with an average length of 2-3 m. This large size is related to the symptoms of island gigantism, namely the tendency of the giant body of certain animals to live on small islands related to the absence of carnivorous mammals on the island where Komodo dragons live, and the metabolic rate of small dragons. Because of its large body, this lizard occupies the position of the top predator that dominates the ecosystem in which it lives.

His big body and his terrible reputation make them popular in zoos. Komodo dragons in the wild have shrunk due to human activities and therefore the IUCN includes dragons as species that are vulnerable to extinction. This large monitor lizard is now protected under Indonesian government regulations and a national park, the Komodo National Park, was established to protect them.
